Questions:

1) Why, when I want to post an image here instead of a link to one, and I bracket my http thingie between the IMG things, do I not end up posting an image, but just a url between IMG things?

2) To transfer a jpg or gif into a url, I need access to a site that hosts image storage...True? Does a subscription to Bellsouth DSL include image storage?

Your help will be appreciated it not necessarily reciprocated. What I know about computers is limited to what I've had to learn to use Word and Google.
Please note that Mac users cannot "right-click" or "left-click." We are uni-clickers.

Try to post an image so we can see what you're doing. You're more likely to get a correct answer that way.

Can't help ya on the second.

The IMG tags work like URL (link) tags when the url is not an "image URL" -- i.e. when the URL isn't a simple direct link to the image.

The URLs that work with the IMG tags have to end in .JPG, GIF, .BMP, or some other image format identifier that the vBulletin software recognises.

If there is a question mark, exclamation point, equal sign, or information following the file type identifier (Like a password or session ID) then that URL can't be used with the IMG tags and the forum software trets it as a link instead.

Most ISP's provide some amount of space for a personal webpage but they also have restrictions on what the content can be -- i.e. no nude pictures -- and many also prohibit hot-linking from other sites, like linking an image to Literotica.

You'll have to contact Bellsouth DSL and ask about your personal webspace and what restrictions they have.

I think I've seen people mention "click and hold" to get the "context menu" PC users get by right-clicking.

However MAC users do it, there is a way to get the "properties" information -- including the direct address URL -- of an image. If nothing else, IE offers a "view source" option on the View menu where you can find the address by searching through the HTML Source code -- not a real good option for a computer illiterate, but just one possibility.

Perhaps one of the other MAC users can provide the proper technique and terminology for you; I'm a PC user and don't do Apple.

Just as an example, the direct URL for the :p smilie is https://forum.literotica.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

If you can figure out how to get your MAC to display that information for you, you'll be able to get the same information from any image.

But instead, it shows up as a link.

I clicked the IMG button thing up there under size/font etc., and pasted in the url, and clicked okay, and it still shows up as a link.

Whassup?

I shereads, your link is clickable, but I get an access denied message. :( Sorry.

Thank you. I was using the url that appeared when I accessed the image at the host site, and it wasn't working except as a link accessible to subscribers. Had to read the fine print to find the code for posting images outside the site.

Oh the untapped power! The additional nights of sleepless, time-consuming techie fun.

Since you asked, that's not my dog but it looks just like her. Well, my dog was cuter at that age, but I'd need a scanner to post her pix. Take my word for it. How about those meaty little drumsticks? 4 of them!

I don't know what I did but it must have been what you said.

:D

Thank you, WH.

It's those feet. Those little front paws, folded so sweet and trusting.

And my previous post was supposed to say "Hi Shereads", not read like the beginning of your will... Sorry.

The link you used first contains bouth a question mark and and equal sign -- as well as "download.php" which is a "script call" that gets the image from a database.

You just need to find the direct link, like you used when it worked, that doesn't contain any of the "forbidden characters."

Any link that contains something like the portion I put in red will NOT work with the IMG tags/button.

Hi shereads, glad you got it to work. I looked at the site where you posted it, there is lots of sites where you don't have to log in or nothing, anonymous free image hosting sites, google that or I will give you a link to one. I like the ones that are user friendly, you don't need to know any more than to click the IMG box and paste the link in there.

Free hosting sites are good for lil funnies and stuff where you are only using once, they might go out of business in a couple days and you lose the link.

Here is one that says no porn, so of course I don't use it but just click on the page, click browse to your file, click open, click upload media and you have the link with no sign-in or nothing.

Thank you, Lisa. I didn't know there were free image hosting sites. I'm a member of Chatropolis, but only because I thought there would be chats devoted to gardening and philosophy and Milli Vanilli. When I found out the place is full of perverts, I was appalled! God knows what diseases a person could catch in one of those chat rooms. And look what they did to my picture of Jesus and the disciples. Might just as well be called "Satanopolis." I wash my hands of them!

Chloroform. No real animal-lover likes to use it, but it's essential for adorable shots like that one. And it looks exactly like trust! I wouldn't attempt to trim my dog's toenails without some chloroform and some of those shark-protection gloves made out of chainmail, just in case I didn't use enough.
