Question about names that show on line in lit

On the page that has you pick your thread you want to go to, there are 2 lists. One is todays birthday celebrants and the other is the list of those whom are currently signed into lit. My question is this, why is it that some listers sign-on names are in bold letters and the others not. I feel so dumb asking this but always wondered why.

The moderators are in bold.
