Question about Fanfiction Rules

Been here for less than a year but my first pass of the rules I think I got the wrong impression that fanfiction was not allowed on lit. Of course now that I opened by eyes I see that there is a specific category for it.

After a re-read of the rules, I guess the stipulation is… no “age progression” of fanfic characters that are under 18 in canon. No noncon of copyrighted characters? But that last piece does not pertain the settings correct? I think I see a few pokemon stories in the non-con section so I assume I am understanding that correctly.

Just wanted to ensure that my re-understanding of the rules is correct! Thanks!

The rules concerning non-con in the category have tightened considerably over the years, and just because something is still up doesn't mean something similar will be accepted now.

If it's non-con/dub-con, it's probably going to get rejected.

fanfic characters that are under 18 in canon.
If a character has ever been depicted as being over 18 (even if its in an episode where they meet their future selves), it's fair game so long as you point out to laurel where they were canonically shown as being over 18 in an a note.

Wouldn't count on it.

It's well known that some characters, like Harry Potter and co, are completely off-limits. It makes no difference that in the last book and movie, they are depicted as adults, putting their children on the train.
I think that has more to do with jk Rowling being litigious about fanfiction
