Do you think that sexual acts that once fell clearly into the realm of BDSM (or even taboo) are becoming more mainstream? Why or why not?

Yes. Advertising, entertainment, the internet and increased availability of porn probably have a lot to do with things loosening up and getting more mainstream. Most things do over time.

Blame Masters and Johnson.

Until then many people didn't know that other ways existed.

Yes, and I think the answer is nothing more than simple exposure. How do you find a new favorite restaurant? By eating somewhere you never have before.

As our information availability increases, we are exposed not only to new styles of cuisine, clothing and music but of sex as well.

The unknown is always strange and frightening to most people. As they become more familiar, it loses much of that impact.

I'm not really sure what you mean by BDSM. Anal sex used to be taboo, now it's fairly mainstream.

I remember a vintage porn film I saw once. The guy was lying on his back, and she was straddling him to suck his cock. He actually put his hand up so her pussy didn't get too close to him. Possibly, she hadn't washed before making the film. Otherwise, he didn't know what he was missing. :p

Don't know, don't care. I just do what I enjoy. If someone else feels compelled to label it, that's up to them.

Yes, simply due to our growing openness about sex in general. It's a natural progression.

and one could argue, also due to less things being tabu, people are going further and further to get the kick of the forbidden. like, once just having sex out of marriage was pretty tabu, and thus probably exciting. when that got normal, you had to do something naughtier to get that same excitement, but of course at some point that became normal too, etc.

I saw an ad for some comedy central show and the guy commented something like, "I was watching porn the other day and it just didn't excite me, because they were ONLY FUCKING."
