How about something less overt. A poker game between two or several women who all desire the same guy. They are good friends, so decide to not fight over him. Instead they make it a bet. A simple poker tournament with few chips, as no one wants a long game (story) of poker.

A handsome older woman moves into a small town, and buys an old house outside of town. A derelict of a mansion once owned by a celebrity, who lost everything after a terrible scandal in the fifties. She spends a fortune rehabbing the place and spends a ton of money with locals businesses to do it. In a short time, she's very well thought of as a result, and several of the local bachelors have set their sights on her. She goes by Madeline Smith, and the local press haven't been able to even figure out who she is. So when she invites the towns elite to her new home for a 'housewarming' costume party (lets just say it's in October) everyone is thrilled to be there.
At the party, the hostess is dressed as Mr. Carroll's Queen of Hearts and she sits upon a dais in a grand ballroom and the party is staffed with the most handsome and beautiful young men and women. There is plenty of food and the drinks are sublime and very shortly the party goers are feeling no pain.
