I'm doing research and I have a relatively (at least by my estimate) open mind about all sorts of fetishes. I'm vanilla in real life. But any way, my research has lead me to the "breed / seed / impregnate" story niche fetish.

Background: Specifically, at /r/dirtystoryprompts, there was a request to write a young guy/older woman met up with guy's mommy for a surprise menage. I don't do incest stories (edgiest I get is relcon BDSM stories) so I added a twist at the end that mommy revealed the kid's adopted and f*** his brains out was the easiest way to break it to him.

Then the original requestor asked that I add breed/seed/impreg to the story. Given that the menage was a bit of a surprise for the young guy within context of the story, and mommy adopted the kid because she CANNOT get pregnant, I told the requestor that wouldn't work at all, can't fit it in logically. So I declined politely.

That got me researching this niche. I found sort of FAQ topic over at /r/eroticauthors but that doesn't really explain much.

For most niches, I can see it's about power, or taboo, but I'm having a hard time seeing the... relevance of breeding stories. It seems that all that's really needed is

a) Early in the story, MMC declares that he's going to get the FMC pregnant
b) Lots of sex (any con)
c) FMC gets pregnant / gave birth X months later

What's the appeal? Merely the virility of the MMC? Or is there a little religious context, i.e. "go forth and multiply" or the Catholic "no contraceptives" thing?

There are certainly many men and women who have been verbally forbidden by parents and others from getting someone pregnant/getting pregnant. So it's quite literally taboo in those cases. But besides that, impregnation is a strong metaphor for creativity - think about your feelings of delight and saisfaction at completing a story and sending it off into the world. Pregnant bellies also symbolize prosperity, much like a cornucopia bulging with harvested crops; the glow of pregnancy is also somewhat similar to sexual afterglow, and pregnancy sometimes comes with a phase where the pregnant woman is extra horny.

In the case where the woman is choosing the man to be the sire of her child it's a big vote of confidence for him. In the case where the man actually wants to be a daddy, that's rare and a very attractive trait to some women. In both directions intentionally starting a pregnancy and following through the process of becoming parents together is a statement of commitment and staking a claim on the other partner. Also in both cases it's fulfilling your biological purpose in life, which can create a "yay I'm successful!" feeling.

Yes, it's about creativity, but also empowerment, and continuity. We created new life! (Life is actually continuous but it's a fine human fantasy.) Yes, we're powerful! I'm a WOMAN and I chose this man! I'm a MAN and I seeded this woman! And our genetic lines will go on and on.

IMHO it's basic biology, not a fetish. We're wired to reproduce. Not all of us do, or can. Those who don't are written-out of future history. Out of the gene pool, luzer! Many find reason not to reproduce in certain time windows. My daughter was born when I was 19. Her daughter was born when she was 39. We both had reasons for the timings. But our genes continue.

Then there's the ZPG (Zero Population Growth) vs holy-breeders dynamic for dramatic tension. Are ZPG'ers more moral, for renouncing overpopulation? Are breeders greedy? I recall a news item some time back about a lucky lad forced into summer session at a country school with six girls and a teacher. Within a week he had impregnated them all. Fine harem fantasy, eh? But which side of the morality line is he on? (I may write that up as a pregger-fetish stroker.)

Breeding is what humans do. Among other things.
