I've just started noticing this and I can't find any definition that satisfies my inquiry. Can anyone please explain what exactly it means? I only found that it's "Pick your label" But not much beyond that. Really a question. If someone would be so kind as to explain the usage of this and also why there's differences made between caps and not. ( i.e. the title of this post )

Thank you!

Also, is it possible to delete one's previous threads? If so, how? I've has questions answered and comments replied to, now I want to delete my threads, I don't like filling the net with my non sense :p

Thanks kinksters!

PYL and pyl are used to make people feel included in the discussions and avoid having to write all the possible labels out (if that's even possible).

PYL in caps means the big letter people: Dom(me), Master, Mistress, Daddy, Owner type of deal.
pyl in lower case means the small letter people: sub, slave, little, pet etc.

As to deleting threads, only the mods can do it, but I don't think it's really done a lot here.

Ah!! That's just perfect! That explanation of it's usage is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you very much :)
I'll start using it some time :p

Ah, so nothing to do then?

That's what it means...pick your label. This is unique to the Lit BDSM talk forum and the cafe. A longtime poster here decided it was easier to create something like this than to have everybody using their own labels, such as Master, Dom, sub, submissive, slave, whatever. The capital letters of PYL are for the dominant side of the equasion and the lower case letters (pyl) stand for the submissive side such as slave, submissive or whatever. So, when talking about all of the dominants, one would say something like "all of the PYLs", and when talking about submissives, one would use pyl.

It just makes the conversation easier for those reading, instead of going through a lot of MASTER/slave D/s, Dom, sub etc. kind of stuff. You might say something like "my PYL is cool" meaning you think your Dom or Master is cool. The same could be used for the submissive, "my pyl is the greatest". So, yes it stands for pick your label, but it's just easier to use than a lot of other fancy label crap.

As for deleting your threads, I don't think that is possible. You might ask for a special deal from Laurel, who is the boss (PYL?) of the site, but this is rare, from what I've heard. The most you can do is go to all of your threads and alter your own posts with something other than what they already are. You must have 5 characters, I think but other than that, you could remove any post you didn't like.

The only thing that would stop you from doing that would be if someone posted in your thread and quoted your post. If that has been done, it's really useless to alter your post, because it's still in someone else's post. You'd have to contact them and ask them to alter their post so your post is no longer quoted.

I don't know how much you want to make this happen, but it can get pretty involved to alter ALL of your posts. It's been tried before, but with minimal success. Sometimes it's best to just let things stay as they are. You can cause more interest in your remaining posts, if you start altering some.

PYL in caps means the big letter people: Dom(me), Master, Mistress, Daddy, Owner, Top type of deal.
pyl in lower case means the small letter people: sub, slave, little, pet, bottom etc.

Damn, you're fast!

Well you could always edit your posts blank, but I don't encourage it, as your threads and questions and answers could be of help to somebody in the future.

And there's lots of room in the interwebz.

Damn, you're fast!

Yeah, it's 9.25am here and I've already breathed waaaaayyy too much bleach. So I have fast posting superpowers now.

Who knew scrubbing the bathroom tiles at 7am would be so much fun.

And, if you breathe through your mouth, you might also bleach your teeth white! But, maybe your brain, too.

Ah so that's what it's all about. Think my label should be owned slut i.e. if I wasn't married to a dominant man I'd be a total slapper!

I'm confused. Other than to bold a couple, what did you change on her post? By looking at her original (since edited) version, you've added to it, but in my quoted copy of her original, those you added are there.

She must have had them in there and took them out with her edit, then you put them back? Twilight Zone?

Heh, my bad. I actually edited my first post right before you quoted it, so I just assumed you had quoted my first version. So I edited my post back to what it was originally, the version without top and bottom, because I hate having two different versions of one post floating around.

Teaches me to read what people actually quote me saying. Must have been all that tooth bleaching and tile scrubbing in the morning. :)
