"In remarks made at Mr. Bush's side in the majestic setting of Catherine Palace outside St. Petersburg, Mr. Putin also suggested that the disappearance of Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, was a major piece of unfinished business as the Bush administration focused its attention on a possible war in Iraq."

Maybe he might jog George's memory so that the President can get back to pursuing his 'war on terrorism' and not his 'war on Saddam'.

Or do you think his famed lack of attention span has at last got the better of him...

"Terrists? Terrists? Remind me Mr Vice President..."

America has the resources to fight a war in Afghanistan & Iraq simultaneously.

So what exactly is your problem with that?

Are you worried they'll over stretch themselves?

I thought the US had already obliterated Afghanistan...

Or is it a case that you're still not keeping up with current events...

Tsk, tsk...

The primary objective in ANY armed conflict is to deny the enemy the resources and ability to hurt you.

While it is desireable to disrupt his Command and Control structure (read that as leadership). It is even more important to disrupt his logistical train thereby denying him the resources that are required to sustain any activity against you.

Disruption of his communication means is also a desired outcome. This prevents what leadership might or might not remain the ability to issue directives to his forces to take advantage of any percieved weakness that you may have.

A general without an army, or the means to effectively communicate with his army, is just another exhile on a small island who wonders where things went wrong.

Your otherwise accurate description of ppman omits an adequate supply of alcohol.

Osama's head on a pike at the village gate is NOT required to have rendered him ineffective. Assuming he still lives.

You assume many things, don't you?

You assume that there were not pre-plans in existence.

You assume that Al Queda operatives cannot inititate activities on their own initiative.

You assume that a power vacumn that would be left by Osama's death would not be filled. (And indeed, that very instance has already been reported by the International press.)

No I don't. I'm just amused that you've fallen for this al Qaida myth hook, line and sinker without a shred of evidence except George's say so...

You are either dumber than I thought or just plain dumb. I know you have a propensity to go off on a thousands tangents because you have what I would call an untidy mind but if you read and comprehend what I wrote, the words 'without a shred of evidence' should leap out and hit even you between the eyes...
