Well its starting to look like Putin might formally declare war on Ukraine which apparently increases his ability to draft people, there's probably weapons he was reluctant to use until he did this. I know we risk him using nukes but I'm starting to doubt that we can keep avoiding actively going to war and hoping he's either a rational actor or someone close to him can take him out. Which I don't know if he's straight up paranoid for no reason or if he has good reasons to be afraid of his fellow Russians. Frankly I have no clue why our tactic hasn't been to offer someone an obscene amount of money. Cus God knows that if Congress has to give some dude a billion bucks to solve that shit its less expensive than what we are currently doing.

I know our attention span as Americans are pretty fucking short and most of us are currently on the abortion ban thing. And while I completely understand it we need to collectively keep our eye on the ball because him taking control of Ukraine, which its increasingly looking like he doesn't really care cus he's doing so much structural damage that whatever he gets won't be functional for months if not years.

I think the problem is real estate, which is finite.

Sure, Russia is the largest country in the world, but is much smaller since the USA weaseled away their soviet colonies.

We feel the same way in Canada. ALASKA, the Northwest Passage, etc.

That’s why we relocated Indians further north and renamed them Eskimos.

Real estate.

"THEY" keep trying to call you or the O.P. but ya'all got their number blocked

Well real estate is finite but I've never looked into Russia but if you look into other geographically large countries part of why they are so large is because half their territory is unliveable for one reason or another. Nobody is coming for Siberia. Almost all of China's population lives in the south. Hell its even largely true of the US.

If Putin declares that his operation in Ukraine is 'War' yes he can call up more conscripts and reservists but will they be any more professional than the incompetent soldiers he had already sent?

Ukraine appears to have been showing that the Russian Amry is a paper tiger - formidable on paper but of little use on a battlefield despite a massive imbalance in terms of numbers and equipment.

Edited for PS: When the British and the US had units stationed in Germany facing the USSR in the cold war, it was known that the USSR outnumbered NATO tanks by a considerable margin. There were two statements:

1. Quantity has a quality of its own, and
2, How many of the USSR's tanks would actually start, and of those that did, how many could reliably drive 100 miles towards West Germany? Of those that did successfully make the journey, how many would have functioning guns and sighting equipment? It was (and is known) that the people in power in Moscow bought West German equipment such as washing machines, televisions, fridges etc because the USSR produced items were crap.
