Not sure what I have messed up, but things are not right. I downloaded new drivers from Microsoft... and now my puter screen is (for lack of a better word)FUCKED. It's almost like it's in safe mode. (don't think it is). It says something about the screen not beening right..and then an option comes up to install the device. When I try, this what happens. "The device is already installed, but it has a problem. To view properties for the device and to see the problem and proposed solution, click finish." When I do that, this is the screen that comes up.. NVIDIA VANTA AGP lomp(micron)
WIndows detected a problem with display drivers. Contact you graphics adapter vender for a new or updated driver"
Please someone..what do I do? I would gladly go back to my old driver..or whatever. Please a little help.

Go into the Control Panel....system....device manager....and remove your video card from that list....then, turn off the PC, unplug the PC, and remove the video card....then, turn the computer on without the video card...allowing it to go through the boot process (to which you will probably be blind)...turn off the PC, then, if your video card is PCI, put it in another PCI slot, otherwise, just reinstall your video card. Hopefully, this will allow you to have no drivers for your video card....it may take 2 or 3 tries to fix.

ummm thanks Bob.. but I don't have a clue where my video is..I am so bad with the inside of my puter. Is there anything else I can try that does not require taking the damn thing apart?

Windows ME (hope that is what you are asking for so I don't look like a complete fool)

Ok, go into control panel....click on the SYSTEM icon....then click on the Device Manager tab....look in the display adapter section, and tell me what it says there. Is there a yellow ! sign? when you click on the adapter, does it say "This device is working properly"?

Not sure...most mainstream PC's do come with a restore CD out of the box, but then again, quite a few people have mutts without restore CD's.

Ok..sorry it took do long..damn thing kept locking up. When I go into the device manager tap thing.. there is a yellow !.. when I click on that a box comes up that says..Windows deteced a problem with display drivers. COntack your graphics adapter vendor for a new updated driver.

Ok, now on the "driver" tab, there should be a button titled "Update Driver"....you can install an older driver using this option. It will ask if you want to replace "x" file that is already on your computer with an older file. Just say yes to all, and it will install the old drivers.
