Pure Moonlight (closed)

"Of course, love." Ghell kissed her cheek. "Don't worry about them. They're both stressed and Norr doesn't like sharing his personal life. He's a little out of place being home for so long, but they'll make up."

"I met her once." Arin said softly as she looked at her father. "She's lovely. Norr was nervous when he introduced us, but he looked at her like she could move the moon and stars."

"I know who she is, but I don't know her personally. I believe the Warrior Captain is her uncle." He sighed and sat back, watching as Katina returned. "He'll come around soon enough."

"He better or I'll box his ears." Katina said with a slight grumble in her voice as she handed Arin a bowl of blueberries and sweet cream. "Not too much, love. If it upsets your stomach, we can give it a rest until tomorrow."

Ghell remained beside Arin until she fell asleep again, then followed Katina out to the kitchen to help wash the dishes in the basin. "You know he's never liked sharing his personal life and thoughts, love. Even when he was little."

"I know." Katina said with a soft sigh. "And Telma has always enjoyed sticking her nose where it doesn't belong. Our cubs are growing up, Ghell. We just have to hope that they remember how much they use to love each other."

"They do still love each other. They're just growing into their own people and it's causing a little friction. The same happens with all siblings. It certainly did with Selena and her family.

Katina let out a little sigh, wiping her hands dry on her apron as she turned to look at her mate. "At least we have sweet Arin to balance everything out. Norr is as headstrong and secretive as they come and Telma...well, Telma is just like her father. She wants to help people, but sometimes she goes about it the wrong way."

"Ruben's there to help too. She'll even out now that she's a mother. Nothing instills patience and instinct better than parenthood." Ghell gave her a sweet smile. "You reminded me of that joy when you welcomed me into this family."

"You gave me hope, eldere. More hope than anyone ever had before." Katina said with a smile towards her mate, wrapping her arms around his waist and holding him tightly as her cheek pressed against his chest. "And you loved my little girl like she were your own cub. That's all that I could ask for out of life. A good mate and a strong family."

"Thank Kitty. She gave me plenty of practice," Ghell chuckled, hugging Katina close. "And I couldn't help but love you almost immediately."

"No, I think you loved Telma almost instantly." Katina said with a soft laugh. "And then the twins were a complete surprise for the both of us. A welcome one, but I certainly never expected to be a mother again."

"You were still plenty young, though. Not me, though. I'm old enough to be our cubs' grandfather." Ghell kissed her and took her hands. "I love you. And I'm glad you became my new life when I came back from Spain."

"And now we're both grandparents." Katina said with a soft chuckle as her mate kissed her gently. "And I love you, Ghell. Now, go talk to that stubborn son of yours before he works himself half to death. Arin should sleep for a while longer, but she'll want to see him when she wakes."

"You're the one who told him it was important to work hard," Ghell teased, giving her one more kiss before disappearing out into the garden.

When Arin woke again a few hours later, she was in pain. Her leg was throbbing from the surgery and the herbs were wearing off. She let out a soft whimper as she tried to get comfortable again, the house quiet beyond her door.

"Daddy?" She called out softly, wondering where her parents were or if Norr were still there. "Norr?"

Norr soon stepped in, looking a little tired as he'd just been about to nod off in the den. "Yeah, I'm here," he murmured, coming to her side. "What's wrong?"

"My leg hurts." Arin said as her brother stepped into her room, asking her what was wrong. "Would you help me sit up?"

She held out her hands to her brother, whimpering in pain as he helped her to get more comfortable in her nest of pillows. When the deed was finished, she nuzzled up against her twin's side, resting until she felt better.

"Don't be mad at Telma." Arin said softly. "She's just looking out for you."

"I'm not mad. I just want my business to stay my business. She thinks she has a right to be nosy just because I'm her little brother, even after she kept Ruben secret so long." He nuzzled against her cheek before going to make up the herbal tea for her with Luna's instructions left by the jars.

Arin waited patiently for Norr to return with the herbal tea, taking the mug from him and drinking it gratefully as they sat side by side again. "She was sad that you never had time to visit when she was on bed rest. She asked about you every time I went to visit."

"I wasn't just running around playing loverboy," he muttered quietly, clearly feeling guilty. "We were short-handed... Spring always brings a lot of babies and a lot of the warriors were home with their mates."

"You could have made time, Norr." Arin said, hating the fact that she had to tell him how much their sister was hurt. "Besides the time that she came here for my surgery, how many times have you seen her since the cubs were born?"

"... Once... When I stopped by on patrol..." Norr muttered, pulling back emotionally as he felt guiltier and guiltier.

Arin went quiet at that confession, feeling bad for the both of them. She had a bond with her twin that Telma didn't share and she saw Norr more often, going out of her way to see her twin at least a couple of times a week. Her heart ached for the both of her siblings.

"Don't worry about it. Just focus on yourself, love," Norr muttered, kissing her cheek. "You've got a long road ahead of you."
