It, really doesnt matter does, it!

Who need's it. Its a... waste of time trying; to get it, right isnt it)

Or...

It gets on my tits when I see stories riddled with mistakes.

LOL! That's a phrase I've never heard, but instantly love. :D

Have some chocolate, or walk your dog, hon.

Have you not?

I say it all the time, as do many other Brits.

Glad you like it. Use it, often! :D

Depends on the story, if it works well as it is, leave it be, if it reads like shit, punctuate it.

You'll never get it right for the highbrow mightier than thou wankers round here, so don't fret on it.

I've yet to see someone walking about with a fucking question mark sticking out of their head but there, I maybe haven't been about enough.

Yeah, that's the thing. If the story reads ok, I don't have a problem. But, when I see run-on sentences followed by a plethera of exclamation marks and elipses, it tends to grate somewhat. ;)

 <---- Do you mean that guy?

As I recall Romans used to write without any punctuation or even spaces between words. It wroked for them. Then again the Roman Empire has vanished.
As for myself, I definitely say I care about punctuation. Since we all are used to it, it's a neccesity. Reading a text with a lot of mistakes is frustrating 'cause you'll have to read it over and over to get it.
Oh and for my own punctuation, I'm not a native english-speaker, I'm much better in correct writing in my own language.

P.S.: Sorry if I killed your thread because every thread I post on seems to end there.

Just to prove you wrong mate, thread's not dead.:D

Badly written crap with lack of correct punctuation, overly long sentences etc, can be shite to read off a PC screen ... but a few little forced breathers help.

I'm with Katie on the silly over use of !!!!!! & extended words Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Just the odd 'Oh fuck!' is OK, or "Hmm", she said.

AWWWW! *HUGS*

You, too, Mindy! *HUGS*

And some kisses, too.

Snoop, your first language isn't English?! Flippin' eck, buddy! You put most native English speakers (writers) to shame.

Good on you!

Lou

[Brief threadjack]
How do you go from SnoopDog to a pic of Snoopy, anyway? I've been wondering about that since your AV.
[/threadjack]

I would say punctuation is really important. But then again, I also wrote an entire short story without using a single comma, driving my poor volunteer editor to throw his hands up in exasperation and ask if I even knew what a comma was.

Sorry Raph ;)

Might I add I really like your threads Tatelou, the ones I've seen so far, they are above most Lit niveau.

For me the true SnoopDog is Snoopy from the peanuts,
He is better looking, better dancing and probably better rapping.
And I thought it's a cool twist on his name.
Snoopy, doing a short breakdance

I was going to post this in the weird facts thread, but I think it belongs with Lou.

The dot that appears over the letter "i" is called a tittle.

I used to be pretty bad, until someone took me in hand and gave me a good talking to. ;)

Last week I went back and edited (well, completely re-wrote) one of the first stories I'd ever written. It was shocking! Good basic story, though. I submitted the re-write to Lit yesterday. :)
