Punctuation Addictions....

Then there is then.

It used to appear throughout my work and then I tried to obviate its use but the word but proliferated.

It is very difficult to avoid one's own peculiarities but then...

Og

Og - Cantdog pointed one of mine out. Apparently I use "start" or "started" all the time. Since he brought it to my attention I've been mindful of it. It's hard to wipe something like that out...

(And there I go with the damned ellipses again.)

I had to yank that one out root and branch as wel. I kept using "she began to <verb>" instead of just "she <verbed>" for no very good reason. Amazing how seducative those little extra non-meaning words can be.

They forgot 'start' and 'started''s bastard cousin... 'began'.

I believe I use fairly accurate punctuation most of the time. I know that technically my writing eclipses the people I know (in general). That includes college professors.

I also have been eliminating "he said" and "she said" from my dialogues that involve two people. So there! ;)
