Pulling Out??

You know, it makes me smile when I see people get up on their soapbox and preach stuff like 'If you don't want to get pregnant don't have sex!' Yeah, right..........it's that easy! :)

Oh it is that easy, the world is already full of stupid people having kids, if you don`t use condoms, fine go ahead, be an idiot have unprotected sex, but don`t complain if you get pregnant after you know what to use to prevent it

You're my herione. =)

Don`t they teach sex education at schools anymore? If not they bloody well should

You and her should look into the NuvaRing (www.nuvaring.com). It's a localized low dose birthcontrol, so there are fewer side effects. I experienced none.

As to the pulling out question....

Maybe I'm extremely paranoid, but I got freaked out about maybe getting pregnant even before actual intercourse! Penis-to-Clit stimulation got me way too nervous. The week before my period would be nerve-racking! My life, as I know it, would be over if I got pregnant. I urge you to find another method.

We use withdrawal---in addition to the pill. I feel pretty good about that. Hate condoms with a vengeance, and I understand what you mean about the lack of feeling and the resultant softness. Sucks.

Planned Parenthood is a good place to start but I fortunately qualify for military prices (aka free) at my local army hospital. Be aware of that option too, if your girlfriend has military parents. Like everyone else has said, there are plenty of better options for safer sex than withdrawal alone.

Did she stay on the pill for three months at all? After the first three the side-effects are supposed to go away, and if they don't: CHANGE BRAND! The types of pills vary, if one has too many side-effects, another may work just fine.
I'm on the pill now, for the second month, and I'm doing OK. Got some mood changes and didn't want much sex, but I'm already returning to my old self.

If not, suggest other kinds of birth control. There's a very good one: An injection! Easy as that. She goes to the doc/school nurse (dunno about your age), gets the injection, it lasts for three months, then she gets a new one. Show some willpower in this, you have to offer something in order to stay free and with no kids around. My boyfriend insists to use a condom even though I'm on the pill - but that's just us. And I'm anyway planning to make him let loose on the paranoia, I like it more without the rubber.

Maybe..........but then again, maybe it isn't all about willpower..........:)

willpower isnt needed.

The thought of having kids at a time when I dont want anything to do with being a mother is what would stop me in the posters situation. Sorry, but a sex fling is so NOT worth ruining my future for.

I know of reliable birth control...

DON`T HAVE SEX

Try that

As a child of the '80's...

Just Say No!!!!!

Yeah, like that EVER worked. 'Scuse me while I pack another bowl LOL

Funny enough, I want sex and I can't have it...nobody else around at the moment.

Go figure.

an ex and I used to call this method

"pull out and pray"

it wasn't a practice for us though... definetly not a good idea.

A web page with some real advice not a dear abby page.
http://www.coolnurse.com/index.htm

Below is some of the available information on pre-cum from this web site.

Q. Can a guy “pull out” to prevent pregnancy?
A. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! This is NOT a form of birth control! I answer this question way too often. Pulling out, also known as' withdrawal', means that a man pulls his penis out of the vagina before he “comes” to keep sperm from being deposited inside the vagina. This is NOT a method of birth control in the real world. (maybe according to some religions and only if those people are married). It does NOT work!!! Pregnancy can happen even if the guy pulls out, if he doesn't ejaculate, or doesn't put his penis all the way in. Here is why: when a guy gets aroused, he produces a fluid called pre-ejaculate (“pre-cum”), which can contain sperm - although sperm isn't produced in this fluid -- this fluid can be higher in sperm count if he has just had sex or masturbated earlier in the day. (Some sperm might still be in the urethra). When the fluid leaks from the penis before a guy comes, it can cause pregnancy.

Also, some guys say they will 'pull out', and then they get so excited and carried away that they don't or 'forget' . Also, some guys can’t tell when they are going to ejaculate.

Q2. What are the chances of getting pregnant from this ('withdrawal' and pre-ejaculate)?

There is no way anyone could give you the odds on a pregnancy without an ejaculation as there are many variables involved. There could be a very small number of active sperm in your pre-ejaculate, but could those swim and fertilize and egg? Who knows. Did your partner ovulate, etc. There is no way to calculate this risk. Don't have unprotected sex, ever. Unless you want to conceive. The worrying and waiting is not worth the risk of taking a chance! If you know you ejaculated, then you might talk to your partner about emergency contraception. I am not recommending that here, just mentioning it as a very, very last resort. For more read about it.

Q. If a guy did not ejaculate, how effective is this?

A. This is a similar answer to the previous question. A female can get pregnant even if the guy does not ejaculate inside of her during intercourse. Most males discharge a small amount of fluid before ejaculation. It is a clear emission that can have a high concentration of sperm. This fluid is frequently called pre-cum. It is released during sexual arousal and usually is not felt by the male. A female could get an STD (including HIV) or become pregnant, if the pre-cum was inside of her or on her vaginal area. If you were using a condom properly it is not all that likely that your partner could become pregnant from pre-cum.

Q. I was wondering if a tampon might work like a condom or the sponge. Would it?

A. NO WAY!!! A tampon is not a method of birth control!

Q. Does the genital herpes virus live in semen?

A. Good question. The herpes virus had not been found to exist in male semen. It is a viral infection spread through direct skin-to-skin contact and sexual contact (oral, anal or vaginal). For more see the Genital Herpes article.

The initial outbreak of herpes usually occurs within two weeks of the initial infection and can last up to four weeks. In the initial outbreak stage, an infected person usually gets sores or blisters in the genital area, and this can be extremely painful. Some other symptoms of herpes are flu-like symptoms, fatigue, fever or swollen glands. The virus remains in the body of the person forever. But, it can be controlled by medication. See the article. Also, check out our sponsor for Famvir, there is very good genital herpes information on their site! Click on their ad on the top or side of these pages. (If they are there).

Q. I have been using Ortho Tri-Cyclen for two weeks and was wondering when it becomes effective in preventing pregnancy.

A. Not this cycle of pills! You will need to use additional birth control when you first start on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, or any pill. Follow your doctor’s instructions - or the instructions of the person that prescribed the pill for you. You should also read the instructional insert found inside the package for details, but to be extra safe, you call your doctor to confirm what she or he told you. Most health care providers will recommend using a "back-up" method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence (a better choice) for the entire 1st cycle or pack of pills. Then the next month, you are set.

Remember, although the pill is effective in preventing pregnancy, it will not protect you from STDs. You can use a condom with the pill to effectively prevent STDs and pregnancy! HIV and Chlamydia are increasingly very high among teenagers, btw!

If she's on the pill I think you're 99% safe as long she remembers to take them as directed  .

And for the pull-out, I almost always do that.... just because I like to.

she has to take them at the same time every day and also remember that some drugs or over the counter supplements can cause an interaction with the pills and cause her to ovulate. If you're on top of all of that, pill should be fine on its own.

Not just OTC drugs. Take it from the mother of "God's little joke" DO NOT TAKE ANTIBOTICS under any circumstances without using other birthcontrol. Husband and I had been married 4 years and had NO intentions of being parents........we liked life as we knew it. Daughter is 11 now. Although neither of us would change it thus the "God's little joke" commit meaning the joke was on us it was from antibotics. I took my pill at the SAME time everyday and in all the time I had been on them I had only missed one probably 6 or 7 years b/4.

Wow, they never claim 100% prevention. I can see why.... But maybe God had other ideas for you?

DUDE - NO -- i didnt have to read any other replies, but i can tell you that it dont work, trust me, my ex and i did that...we found out the hard way. with quickies it may work (cause precum may not have time to start coming out), but i wouldnt count on it.

The pulling out strategy is never a good idea- you have way too much to loose (or in this case maybe gain). Plus, who is to say what the "right" time to pull out is. All in all bad idea- agree with OP that has a child b/c of this indiscretion.

Just my two cents.

my gf and i have been having sex for almost a year now and weve tried birth control ( but she didnt like the side effects it had on her) and we've tried condoms ( but i cant seem to feel anything with it on and i cant seem to stay hard very long and i deffinitly dont enjoy anything....and she cant enjoy anything cause i cant stay hard) .....so mostly we just have sex and i pull out......but its getting kinda scary ...like last month when she was late a couple days....and were both in college and living with our parents so we cant be making those kind of risks.....so how risky is it pulling out??

and does every male have pre-cum?? cause i dont think i do cause ive never had any when masturbating or from bjs or anything...

also when i pull out ...every single time im at lest out and about a foot away from her before i cum...

DESPERATLY NEED ANSWERS....

thx

Did that for 17 years with my wife, we never had a baby form pulling out. Did this before the vast. The difference between you and I is that I am married. I am pretty much committed, you are not. Take that into consideration.

My wife and I did the pull-out method for over twelve years. Never had one single one problem. These guys who are saying that it doesn't work; I'm not entirely sure how they could be screwing up something that's so friggin' simple.

We also enjoyed a number of other ways for me give up my load, but never were there any condoms, and never was there a pregnancy from pulling out, or any of the other ways.

Pulling out might work for a very long time for some people, for the same reason that some people don't have any children. Sterility, or low fertility in one or both partners. Pulling out still likely allows some sperm to enter the woman. If you are shooting blanks, or have bad swimmers, then there is almost no chance that the few that make it into the woman can fertilize the egg. While only one sperm actually fertilizes the egg, it takes team work to break down the egg's defenses and get one of those guys in.

My wife and I are both quite fertile. Pulling out is easier than I think most of these guys seem to be aware of. I also get the feeling that anyone who has had a bad experience with this just wasn't as knowledgeable about his body as he should have been. Waiting until you're feeling the poitn of no return is NOT the time to pull out, but rather a good deal too late because spurts could already be escaping into the vagina.

Controlling when you want to come is the first thing to get a grip on (pun intended). The next thing is, providing that you have control, choosing when you want to cum and pulling out before the point of no return by just a couple of moments. Basically, right when all the tingling just begins.
