Or so a Republican former congressman recently told Robert Reich.

“They’ll play along for a while,” the unidentified friend said. “They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.”

Asked what happens then, Reich’s friend laughed and said, ‘They like [Vice President] Pence.”

“Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind,” he explained. “So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will …”

“They impeach him?” Reich asked.

“You bet. They pull the trigger,” was the reply.

I don't think that's the reason, because Pence doesn't disagree with Trump on any of those core Republican issues.

The key is that they can't get rid of Trump until a certain percentage of his base starts to turn on him, and that won't be easy because those people are by definition also insane.

The ideal solution would be for Trump to get tired of being President -- or humiliated by having become an international laughingstock -- and choose to leave on his own.

This was their plan all along. No one with an even a small part of the brain firing knows that was the end-game. Only mouth breathing idiots with no sense of your and you're believed their loyalty to #45. Oh, and were, where, and we're.

I would trust anything Reich said about as far as I can throw him...which is pretty far actually...so, never mind. Bad analogy.

That's the key. They will turn and the Cabinet of Dumb will have no choice.

Gosh. Cat's out of the bag now!

I guess the "Republican former congressman" who was taken into the confidence of this secret cabal of Republican plotters didnt realize when he blabbed to ROBERT REICH that this totally believable story would somehow get out. OOPS!

You might try this again in the story ideas forum.

You got a lot of plot holes and kinks to work out of it though.

I realize that the point of this sort of story is to encourage Democrats to keep their chins up after the ignominious defeat of the undefeatable Hillary Clinton by a buffoon, but this isn't going to help. Democrats would be even more aghast by a President Pence than they would be by having the current New York liberal as President.

When you're writing these sort of fantasies you have to see them through to their logical conclusion even if your story isn't going to take the journey quite that far. Your reader will.

I bet it can spell "cabinet" correctly.

Anyways, that's not what I said or even implied, Q-####. Run along with the other disasterpieces.

As always, enjoy your smug superiority from typing on an actual laptop with spellcheck in your browser, since spelling is so much more important than your obvious misunderstanding that the cabinet would be in any way involved in the aforementioned trigger pulling.

Nice attempt at a backpedal, though.

Given that you assume that I don't know that the cabinet doesn't impeach and the fact that you constantly even bother to stalk me says more about you than me.

I'm sorry you can't afford a decent free app for your phone to check your idiocracy.

The cabinent doesn't impeach, dummy.

The cabinet may not be able to impeach, but it can declare the president unfit to discharge his duties.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

His "superiority" comes from the fact that he caught you attempting to ascribe a position to him, then criticize him for "his" position.

You, of course, fixated on his aside about your spelling error.

I howl in utter amusement as femprog boys still gotta fantasize their statist cousin RINOs have any effective strategy going on at all when THEY COULDN'T EVEN PREVENT A TOTAL BOZO LIKE DONALD friggin TRUMP FROM TROUNCING EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR LEMMING CANDIDATES AND STEALING THEIR RINO PARTY'S NOMINATION TOTALLY AWAY FROM THEM FOR HIS INDEPENDENT OWN!

And as far as Trump's totally anti-RINO, totally anti-establishment GOP "base" goes: it's hard to imagine any President making his core supporters more confident that they voted correctly than by what their victor has done in just his first week in Office.

Which may be horrendously bad news for Trump, RINOs, and femprogs alike: there's mortal danger in politically spoiling any base, but especially one which is so individual liberty-loving ravenous for much, much more.

He spends his precious data limits on arguing with dipshits like Spidey and stroking bigger morons like AJ whilst I sit back and make fun of them all. This cannot possibly fun for him or good for his fragile psyche.

There are apps out there that will check your spelling, but they slow down his posting quantity (which is, of course, #WhatMattersMoast). His Senseless Sensei AJ requires an aggregate of 200+ posts* a day for the belly rub Lit's Sweetest Transvestite so craves.

They, just like all you piece of shit socialists are doing now, can "declare the president unfit to discharge his duties" all they wish to, but unless the President agrees or a two-thirds majority of Congress concurs, "The cabinet" has as much practically to do with removing Trump from Office as your socialist, whiny ass did on November 8.

That was not in any way under discussion here, since none of the fictional characters in the above story are cabinet members. The story specifically alleges impeachment plotting.

Although...your idea does make for an interesting plot bunny. It's kind of hard to imagine Trump's hand picked cabinet just suddenly deciding that they'd rather help some RINOs.

Although that word RINO is going to be tortured beyond recognition by this presidency. By any stretch of the imagination Trump is nothing of a traditional Republican.

His ignorant ass ascribed the back peddle position to me only after making him look ridiculous for spelling the ascribed position wrong. Talk about being defensive, sheesh!

Well, at least with that subject you have a little authority.

I had a tangential query. If an impeachment occurs And the president is removed from office at the moment of removal does the cabinet remain and serve at the pleasure of the former vice president or is the cabinet dissolved?

What is your alternate explaination for an alternative meaning for, "The Cabinet of the Dumb will have no choice," If your meaning did not relate to the impeachment which was being discussed?

The Cabinet as you opined, "wiill have no choice," but to do, exactly what?

Oooooh, deflection attempt! Look at the pretty butterfly!

It was a generality of his cronies turning their back on him - not specifically just the cabinet or him being actually impeached or not.
