Wondering what the time frame is for things to get published after they are submitted. Haven't posted anything in a couple of years. Took about four days back in 2018. I know it gets busier this time of year for some reason so I'm expecting a little bit longer. Anybody got any insight?

My last was seven days, but it did have a request to coordinate links with another story. Both went live straight after the Halloween Contest stories were rolled out.

Contests always slow non-contest stories down a little, and this time of year is always a little slower, in my experience.

Thanks. I figure mine will take a bit longer as well because of the size. Guess I'll start chapter six while I wait. :)

Thanks, but I put 119k words into this last chapter. I'm sure it will cause a small delay. Three days would be great but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Mine have gone up almost consistently in two days for fourteen years.

Wow. That's awesome. I had a four day wait for each of my first four chapters. I just checked again and it's now labeled as new and a date of Oct. 4th is set. Works out to five days to be published.

Excited but expecting a horror show for feedback. It's way too long to be a wanker, and honestly, it's not what it was about for me. Story took on a life of it's own. I just had to get it out.

Similar, once I had started the series new submissions are posted normally within 2 days. Pretty decent once you consider there is only one superhuman lady (clearly) who reviews to ensure it meets the submission guidelines.

Brutal One

It depends

It probably helps to have a lot of work published already. When I first started over 10 years ago, it'd be four or five days before something would show up.

This may be a bad example because of the competition but I put my Halloween story in at 8:30 at night, EST USA, on Sept. 30th. It showed up 36 hours later.

Halloween stories probably get priority so if you're not posting there, it may be three or four days.

I think my last one was around 2 days. There are two different events in progress now, so anything outside those may be lower priority.

When I first started posting stories here, it used to take about four or five days. Since then, most post in 2 days. I did have one post in one day, almost exactly 24 hours. I posted it on a Saturday morning about 2am. It post that night at midnight for Sunday. I was very surprised. I didn't start looking for it until Monday and didn't find it in the Monday batch. I had to go see if it had been rejected or just skipped over. Was I surprised that it had been up and entire day early.

Thanks Laurel. :rose:

By the way, thanks for giving a "favorite" to my story "New American Gigolo." It's nice to have an older story get attention.

119K is a substantial size. I have an entire series that probably won't go over 35K in maybe nine chapters. It depends on how closely Laurel will read it. She must skim through a lot with the volume of work she has. Even skimming something that long will take a while.

It seemed like new writers would get more scrutiny at the beginning, and then that would drop off. My submissions tend to be on the shorter side, so they usually go through in about four days.

So, welcome back to writing. I looked at your submission's list, and I see that your stories back in 2018 did very well.

Yes, contest stories on are a different track than regular entries are.
