How will I know if and when my story is published?

You have to check your author's dashboard over on the Story side. how you get there depends whether you are using the classic or beta version, but it isn't hard from either. i just find the cssic one more inutuitive because I've been usingit for almost 25 years. There, you simply click on your blue name at the top of the story index.
On the beta version from the home page you click "erotic stories & audio" then at the next screen click "My Literotica".

When you submit it, it goes in the Pending list. When it's accepted for publication, it remains in Pending, but it is now marked Published and New, and has a date. This is normally one or two days in the future. On that date it will disappear from Pending and be actually published. New stories always appear at about 6 a.m. UTC (midnight in some western US state).

once it is published, you will have a notification in your activity feed on your dashboard, and your personal "My stories" page will update.

Sometimes, due to a flaw in the software, the story will disappear from Pending for a while before reappearing in Published. Don't panic. They never seem to be invisible for more than 24 hours.
