Ok guys and gals, its time to talk about the fuzz down there.

Up until recently i just assumed everyone was well, brunette, short and curly.... thats what all the "where did i come from?" books have you believe, right?

Well, it turns out thats a bit of a crock
And yes, i realise i'm ditzy for not figuring this out sooner, but hey, its not like you can just front up to a blone woman and ask to have a peep!

So the thing is, i have become a tad to aware of my fluff.

I appear to be brunette, longish and straight! (well, a slight wave, but mostly straight)

I have been looking around to see what the current fashions are 'down there' and it appears that the bald look is most favoured... I passed out and went into full shock getting my leggies waxed... this might be a tad tricky for me to achieve :(

there appears also to be the 'trimmed' look, which appears to involve a haircut-type deal... does this itch?? Arent the hairs more course feeling?

GUYS: What do you prefer? Why?

GIRLS: what are these like maintenance-wise?

Should i do something trimmy or just stick with my wild 70's style bush?

Personally, I perfer trimming. It's easy to handle and more importantly, painless. I've never had the guts to attempt a waxing down there, but from what I've heard from my sister, she claims it isn't so bad. Now, keep in mind this is the same woman who, at one time, used a razor on herself and managed to take a tiny slice out of her labia. Can we say ouch?

I've tried using hair removal products similar to Nair, but without the warning label that says it's not to be used on genitals. It worked like a charm with the exception of a faint tingly sensation I put up with for a few hours afterwords. However, when it came time to sprout hair agian, I noticed a few ingrowns that really bugged me.

Ultimatly, I think the best thing for you to do is take the ideas you like from myself and fellow commentors and try them to see which one fits you best.

Happy Hair Removal! :p

I'd be wary of using porn sites to establish "current fashion" for your pubic hair. I think in the real world, a bikini trim -- shaving what shows outside of your swim-suit or panties -- is probably much more common than completely bare.

A beard-trimmer or one of the highly touted "Easy Touch" trimmers is probably your best bet -- they're relatively painless and give you a lot better control of the area you depilate than creams or waxing.

true, but then i'd have to admit that i am browsing purely for pleasure, and well, i like to keep the good girl facade up :p

Besides, i also did a bit of a quiz around my mates too.... perhaps i just have very pain-tolerant friends :p

I love a bald pussy or one with just a trim of hair (like a V or heart shape). It keeps the hair out of my mouth and teeth. it shows those fabulous lips (like fingerprints each one is soooooo unique) and even with a little stubble it is awesome on the tounge.

I remember the first time a girl shaved it for me I was soooo turned on I could not keep my hands, mouth and cock out or off of it. just something soooooo sexy about it being in the wide open with no hair to hide anything. I shave my wifes often and love to do this for her (mainly cause it is my art and I get to enjoy licking the finished product).

I would suggest using a sensitive skin shave gel for the first time. This will cut down on the number of ingrown hairs or bumps. I have been shaving my balls and pubic are for about two years now and my wife loves the clean look. I use a razor mostly, but I did buy her one of those wet/dry electric shavers. I like the closeness of the razor (I shave my thighs and belly and armpits, I am kinda hairy but not with it all down my back or anything).

I suggest you to give it a try. maybe just trim it down really close without the clean shave or just shave something creative in there. and see how your SO likes it, if he is like me he will be begging to shave it for you or begging to play with the newly cut grass on the playground.

hmmm, OK. well, without sounding too curious, are we talking "shave what you see" or are we talking get on your butt in front of a mirror to get those pesky little fluff bits further back?

i shaved it all for my husband for valentines day, and have not looked back. I loved the smooth soft skin so much that it is worth shaving every other day to keep it that way. Use a new razor and a shave jel like Aveno or Bikini Zone. I usually try to do it out of the shower in front of a makeup mirror so I can see what I am doing. Also have used electric shavers but they don't get it as close.
As to the benefits, with no hair it is so much more sensitive while 'playing' and my husband no longer has to pick the hair out of his teeth.
He loved my look so much he did his and all I can say is YUMMY

I would get it all waxed it if were not for the 2 weeks I would have to let it grow out, maybe this winter.

Depilation dosn't have to be painful -- no more so than shaving your legs and pits.

Do a search in this forum for "Magic" or "Magic Shave" -- it's a depilatory cream favored by many on Lit because it lasts longer than shaving does.

rockin.

SweetSnaffle, this is a kick ass thread and I am adoring your honesty. If I had a sister, I think she'd be a lot like you.

Men are all about saying "We love it trimmed, or shaved," and saying "ohhh, but we shave," - but I don't think it's quite comparable. Women have more nooks & crannies & awkward bits to shave. Hurrah for your thread!

I agree with the more nooks and crannies but the spot just below my balls is not the easiest and can get nicked real easy. and as for the more nooks and crannies and those pesky hairs in the back, thats why I suggest getting your SO to do this. plus it is tons o fun!!

Snaffle, :)
I have one of those "wild" bushes as you mention and I used to hate when I had to trim it for bathing suit season because of the irritation and bumps- but I keep it trimmed all the time now and I like it much better.

Basically, what I do is shave the sides, namely the area that would be seen in a bikini. For the rest, I use cuticle scissors to give it a close trim, especially near the area where someone's mouth might be. ;) I have never gone completely bare.

To avoid the irritation, I use a nice shaving cream and a good new razor - like Mach 3 or something like that. If you shave it more often it helps with the red bumps and irritation. The other good ways to deal with that are to use an antibacterial gel afterwards, like Bikini Zone, and to gently exfoliate the area occasionally with a soft loofah.

I did just buy one of those "Bikini Touch" battery powered razors, and while it did not cause any irritation, it did not shave as closely as the regular razors.

So you too can have a nice trimmed snaffle!
:D

thankyou all very very much :)

I can feel a pruning coming on :)

(it was either that or i was going to perm it :p who has ever heard of long and straights? erg!)

The thing is, do what you feel comfortable with.
I keep myself shaved. I have no itch, or any other sort of problem. Over the years I have learned how to shave and minimize nicks. I think men have as many nooks & crannies as women, just organized differently.
My wife shaves, but leaves the area above just trimmed, seems to minimize irritation.

Again, do what you like.
;)

Like everyone has been saying, it really depends on you. I don't like to be completely bald because it is too itchy for me when it grows back (and it's not like we can just itch like guys can!). I do, however, trim and shave the sides into a nice V. This may sound funny, but first, I sit on the toliet backwards (facing the wall) and trim the hairs, this way all the hairs go into the toilet and I can just flush them away - no sweeping and no mess. Then, I shave. I like to do this is the bathtub. I get the water all warm and put some moisturizing bath beads in there, then I soak for a little while before shaving. This helps me relax and helps the pores open up and softens the hair some. My SO LOVES a trimmed bush. I've had bfs in the past that liked it bald, but it was just too complicated for me. I like the trimmed look - it keeps it looking natural, but in an "upkept" sort of way. Good luck! :rose:

Am gonna fess up with the way my wife and I look after our personal grooming.....

For me, tis a hot shower, followed by lathering up my nuts with "King of Shaves" Menthol seems to be the better kind....

For above, my wife helps out trimming my pubic hair to the "right" length using a comb flat on the skin. That not only eliminates the chances of nicking the skin, but it keeps the hair all the same length... this bit, we do about every three months, cos for some reason, my hair grows really slowly....

After trimming, we "shape" by waxing... and guys, it isnt painful at all.... it sounds a lot worse than it feels.... Dont forget to cover all the shaved/waxed areas with a cold wash cloth for a minute or two to close the pores !

Afterwards, we use a product called SUDOCREME, not sure if its available outside the UK, (I havent seen in Walgreens) but its basically a skin irritationi cream, and was originally designed to combat nappy rash. Let me tell you, it kills the red bumps stone dead !

Then its my wifes turn... I get to shave from half an inch above her clit, right the way round to the top of her crack (sorry cant think of a tasteful way of puttin that)... and ladies, trust your guys, they do shave curved surfaces every day.....

Now if its been a while since she has done any grooming, we go for the waxing.... However, sometimes, if my wife has lots of time on her hands, believe it or not, she plucks ! I know, it takes the patience of a saint, but she swears by it !

Afterwards, its cover with as cold a wash cloth as she can stand and again, its dollop on the SUDOCREME.. and like I say, it kills off the red bumps no problem at all !

What I would suggest, is experiment... find out what suits you best... Trim down, see how it feels, if it feels good, thats fine. If it feels like you want to go further, do so in stages... and find what suits you best !

:)
