Mina
His words of love tore at her, as she wished so badly she could open her mouth and return the favor, but she just couldn't do it. Maybe it was because she was afraid of empty words? Maybe she didn't want someone needing her, or her needing them? Whatever it was, she couldn't respond in kind.. not now anyway.
Sure the sex was awesome, but what did they really know about each other? ... About themselves? She fell asleep with this in her head, wondering if either of them had a clue to what they were doing, going to face later on in life, and even here in this jungle.
It was later she woke, and yet didn't. It felt as if a tiny colony of red ants were crawling over her skin, biting her. Every single inch of skin was swarming with something that itched, burned and hurt.. And yet she couldn't open her eyes, though she swiped at the unseen little invaders to get them off of her.
She moaned softly, but it sounded hoarse and yet loud at the same time. Flinching, she tried to convince herself to wake up, to open her eyes. A sob escaped as she tried to get up for what felt like the hundredth time, only to sink back down to the dirt with a weakness worse than any flu she'd ever felt.
Disoriented, she managed to crawl away from Conall at some point in the night but he wasn't far away as she could still smell him past the rioting scents upon her skin. Cursing herself for not crawling to the water, where she might've been able to cool herself off, but to the damned thickest plants she could find.
She was coated in dirt, and yet the ants still would not get off her! Fucking maddening, she thought with a whine.
The buzzing in her ears, the aching in her body and the tiny little bites every where she couldn't get off of her! She wanted Conall, needed him but she couldn't quite remember where he was. Which direction she'd taken, and when.
The first pop almost went unnoticed, but the pain didn't. With a loud scream which sounded more like a roar than her own voice, Mina passed out once again. A few more seconds of shifting, and where Mina once lay now rested a mountain lion.
