Hi

I recently wrote a story for my SO and she enjoyed it so much she suggested I submit it online somewhere. I want to try this I am just curious about protecting anything I'd submit from anyone who would be willing do something negative around it.

Any advice on things to watch for and protect myself from it?

Simple answer:

You can't. Anything you post online anywhere can be stolen and reposted either in its original form or modified.

On Literotica you can turn off voting and comments. That won't stop anyone from mentioning it in a post.

No matter how often you delete what you have posted, it will still be available somewhere. Edited for PS: Unless you want to retrieve it yourself. Then it will be irretrivably lost.

The only way to keep it yours is to never post it on the internet unless its in e-book form and for sale. You put it here or any site like it, it will be lifted and put everywhere. That's just how it is.

If it is a file on your computer, and that computer is used on the internet, some programs like Chrome will be able to access it.

That's very much how I started here. My SO thought my stories were too good to just limit to him so he suggested here. The quid pro quo is you post it here, its online and it will be forever and ever until the end of time and it'll get copied onto other websites. You have no control. Accept that it's going to happen.

That said, don't reveal any personal info in your story. None. Nada. Do not use real names, real people etc etc that could be linked back to you. Set up an email acct specifically for Literotica. Do all that and hit submit. Give you SO a bigger thrill. Write another one :D

The negatives? A few nasty comments if you're unlucky.

thanks for all the advice. I don't feel they're the quality that anyone would steal with the intent of selling. and its not real nor based on real people just some a situation and acts that i found sexy and wanted to discuss with my SO so i wrote it and gave it to her to promote the discussion. she said she enjoyed it and recommended i post it. i plan on writing her a sequel soon so we'll see how that goes. thanks again. i dont think im worried about some negative comments i'd like to believe i have thick enough skin than to let some rando comments get me down.

thanks again. expect my story soon.

Let us know when it's posted. Always fun reading someone else's stories. And hang out here now and then - especially if you have questions :D

And btw - Welcome to Literotica! :rose:

Just as aside regrading the sequel; If you want it to be a continuation of the first story, you can do so by using the exact same title with a "Ch. 02" after it. (If you know you're going to do this, you can title the first part as the title with a "Ch 01".) Best wishes and hope this brings you and your SO some fun!

I've been on here for 15 months and discovered one incidence of my story being ripped off and reposted onto another site. I emailed them and asked them to stop. And they did. So, while your enforcement options are limited, it's not completely hopeless.

If you are a new writer I wouldn't worry about it. Publish stories, get comments, and use writing here as a way to get better.

To me, it's not worth worrying about, or even thinking about...(unless of course you're trying to make money from it)

If people like your work, that's the main goal.

If I search for 'copyright oggbashan', which appears at the start of most of my stories, I get hundreds of results. Many are here on Literotica; many are links back to Literotica; but too many are just stolen and reposted (with my copyright notice unamended!).

It is an inevitable consequence of being a reasonably prolific writer and posting for over 15 years. A number have been stolen by bots because the stories never extend beyond the first Lit page and are often irrelevant to the site's stated theme. A few have been translated into other languages. Some of the translations are competent; some are Google translate.

I knew when I first started posting on Yahoo Adult Groups, years before I posted on Literotica, that I was effectively putting my stories into the public domain. I don't mind. I'm just pleased that some people like some of my stories enough to want to re-post them.

I haven't found my stories being stolen. I feel neglected.

So I submitted my story. It's currently pending. when I find out more I'll leave a link.
