Imagine that you go to a restaurant and there's only two items on the menu. Porter House steak or Soy Porter house steak. It really doesn't matter which you order although I may find it odd if you chose the faux steak. You may actually prefer the faux steak and in the end you're the one that's going to eat it. But if it came out that you chose the faux steak out of some sense of guilt or shame I would consider you weak and have little to do with you in the future.

And that seems to pretty much be what the trans community is lamenting, the fact that you chose your preference as opposed to choosing what you don't prefer out of guilt or shame.
