Intuition would suggest Lesbian is the best option, but as Melissa suggested readers there are often misandrist and will turn up their noses not just at MFF threeways, but any story where the protagonist doesn’t swear off men altogether.

LW is second natural choice, but again, despite the name the tropes reigning supreme in that category are not conducive to non-heterosexual couplings.

So yeah, it’s probably best to just chuck it in EC, especially if the encounter is a one-off. Just make sure to tag it properly.

OP said he isn't writing a threesome. It might have been a charitable assumption on my part that "husband's perspective" is exclusively about trying to gauge his wife's attitude and encourage her to go through with it if he feels like she'd be enriched by the experience.

But I can see now how it could be interpreted as the guy literally being present and watching - -in which case, yeah, that wouldn't fit into LS regardless of what we think about the readers' attitude towards the other sex.

My point was that lesbian readers won't want a story written from a man's point of view, regardless of whether he watches or not. You don't go to the lesbian section for a male perspective! That's not being misandrist; that's just being annoyed about being given wine when you wanted a gin and tonic. There's a place for everything, and lesbian isn't the place for that. Doesn't mean you hate it, right? I love Chinese food, but I wouldn't order it in a curry house, if you get the metaphor. I like men too... just not in my lesbian erotica please!

Thanks, that makes perfect sense. Like I wrote in the thread I just started, I always learn something new about Lit categories from these questions, so your explanation is very much appreciated.

I'm curious why the insistence on a story about two straight women having sex with each other. Because it wouldn't be real sex, it would just be a performance, like is expected of female porn stars. They wouldn't really be into it, so to speak.

Why not a husband who has discovered his wife's bi-sexuality? They sit down and have a real heart-to-heart and she explains why she kept it from him. In the end, he tells her that he's cool with her exploring that side of herself and admits he's turned on by the idea. Lot's of avenues to take from here.

Lesbians, speaking from personal experience, do not like stories where others control a woman's desires, agency, or actions, whether the controlling persons are men or women. A person's choices should be their own. Neither a husband nor a wife owns their spouse.
