We never try to tame them, though we don't mind them wandering through the kitchen-- and we can often squirt them with a dose of Revolution when we do the cats-- we host some feral cats too, and we're good with long-distance revolution-dosing.

It starts with feeding the possum nothing but biscuits and milk for 3 weeks, and ends with the possum in a roasting pan on a bed of sweet potatoes.

An opossum is a wild animal. They aren't very docile and they have an imposing array of sharp teeth. Don't accidentally corner an opossum.

In general, no. When I lived in San Diego, there was a woman who was known as the 'Possum Lady.' She would take in injured or sick 'possums and care for them until they could be released into the wild. The opossums that she had appeared to be tame, but she would release them into the wild and they would stroll off, without a backward look.

That said, there are people who have kept pet opossums. However, I suspect that the pets were previously injured animals that couldn't survive in the wild.

It seems as if you might be my little sister. Population here is 3 formerly feral cats who now hold title and come on call if properly addressed. Sirs and Maam will do, thank you.

They alllow possums of all sizes and ages and on ocasson they even allow humans.
Oh, I live here too.

Adult possum's are cautious enough to not enter the territory of the terrorier but their offspring often do not survive long enough to learn why.
