I note that instead of presenting a logical and reasoned rebuttal, that I was met by the Alinsky tactic of ridicule.

:)

Talk about a badge of honor.

I await a cogent, fully human reply.

Your philosophy is met with ridicule because it is ridiculous.

The Alinsky bit is especially ridiculous, and illustrates just how poorly he understands his own enemy. I mean really - a small-time community organizer whose influence never extended beyond the 1960s? The man could pick as his effigy so many other, more prominent influences upon the modern American progressive: Chomsky, Warren, Tyson. Or even before that - what about figures such as Goldman, King, Chavez? He doesn't focus on any of these; he instead chooses the one centered upon by the ravings of a huckstering media conspiracist. Doesn't look at the larger contexts, doesn't take the time to form, as he puts it "a cogent, fully-human opinion" (what an insulting little twit, by the way). No, he thinks whatever the man on the teevee tells him to think. It's absurd.

And by the way, I don't need some middle-rung progressive figure from my grandparents' generation to make me delight in making fools suffer. I picked up that trait all on my own.

My cogent, fully human reply:

Your "I, me, mine" pastiche of a personal philosophy (i.e. one from column A, one from column B, etc) deserves nothing but ridicule.

Self-centeredness is not a philosophy, it is a moral failing. It renders you....wait for it....less than human.

I'll take his critique of liberalism seriously when he critiques actual liberalism, and not an absurd caricature that exists only in the rhetoric of right wing demagogues.

This is why conservatives have lost the culture war, and are losing the war of ideas. They don't even understand who they're dealing with.

Scarcely a day goes by that some conservative doesn't tell me that I believe something that I have never believed in my life.

I've gotten that too. And every time, I want to tell that person to go home and Google the words "epistemic closure."

I've started hashtagging those attempts as #AscriptionAgain. Most of 'em lately come from query. He seems particularly frustrated at not being able to comprehend, let alone refudiate, the positions of most posters. So he assigns a position to people, then criticizes them for "their" position.

I'm starting to get a picture of query. Something about one of his recent posts that referenced Dennis Miller. He's been civil enough so far, but I have a sense that he's not going to like me very much.

He is a weak man, eager to curry favor with those he considers to be "alpha males" on the fringe right.

Uh oh....I've used that phrase in posts here too.

To query, that is "proof" that you are an alt of mine.

Funny, the assumption that assertive personalities - "alpha" personalities, as it were, of any gender - exist only on the right.

The right, and the fringe right in particular, have the "authoritarian follower" mindset down to a science.

Regardless, query is still a weak man. Classic beta male.
