August 5, 2008 in Youngstown Ohio. Gas was $3.79 per gallon (price was coming down accourding to Obama's speech that day), and he made a point of telling the crowd that gas cost 2.5 times the cost of when G.W. Bush took office. so why would he do that? To place blame on Bush, that's why.

Turn about is fair play. Now that Obama is being slammed for being responsible for high gas cost, his administration is tap dancing around the issue and telling everyone that they are not responsible.

If you believed Obama in 2008, then you should believe those that are blaming Obama for high gas costs now. Politics and Politicians are funny.

He needs to turn down the gas price dial in the Oval Office. It's right next to the job generator and the recession switch.

Is there proof coming in your next post or something?

It seems to me it's common knowledge that Obama wants high gas prices, so his algae idea will be a viable solution for our energy (gas) needs.

I thought I heard his energy secretary say he'd like to see $8.00 per gallon.

The proof is here:

Followed by the exact excerpted quote here:

And unfortunately, in this election, Senator McCain has proposed an energy plan that’s nothing but four years more of the same.

He’s offering a plan with no significant investments in alternative energy. He’s offering a gas tax holiday that will pad oil company profits and save you – at best – half a tank of gas over the course of an entire summer. And he’s offering $4 billion more in tax breaks to the biggest oil companies in America – including $1.2 billion to Exxon-Mobil, a company that just recorded the largest profit in the history of the United States. A company that, last quarter, made the same amount of money in 30 seconds that a typical Ohio worker makes in a year. All while here in Ohio, you’re paying nearly $3.70 a gallon for gas – two and a half times what it cost when President Bush took office. Senator McCain not only wants oil companies to keep every dime of that money, he wants to give them more. Well, I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that’s the change we need.

So... 4 more years of the same for McCain makes it clear that whatever Bush did, it was not a plan to lower gas prices. So Obama takes office, and the same claims are being levied against Obama. That he has no energy plan, and whatever plan Obama does have, it has done nothing to lower gas prices.

An interpretation is as follows: Obama has been in office for 4 years. Whatever he is offering is the same stuff he's been offering. Still no energy plan, and still no decrease in gas costs. Same as he did McCain/Bush. So why is Obama not taking responsibility for high gas costs?
