President Joe Biden's director of the National Economic Council, Brian Deese, said Americans paying high gas prices is needed for the "future of the liberal world order." Reactions to the statement erupted on Twitter.

CNN anchor Victor Blackwell interviewed Deese on Thursday and cited that Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said on Wednesday the war between Russia and Ukraine could be a "grinding struggle" for years.

Blackwell said, "I think everybody understands why this is happening, but is it sustainable? What do you say to those families who say, listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years? This is not sustainable."

Deese – who was formerly the global head of sustainable investing at BlackRock – replied, "What we heard from the president today was about the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm."

President Biden has the integrity to discuss the cost of deterring Russian aggression in Ukraine. During the presidential campaign of 1980 Ronald Reagan said that as president he would cut taxes, raise military spending, and balance the budget by 1983, "if not sooner."

Americans aren't interested in the liberal world order. They are only interested in order here at home right now. Meanwhile, Biden goes to Europe looking like a fool and getting taken to the cleaners every time he goes. He just handed them another 800 million on top of the 7 or 8 billion he's given them already.

Biden kicked ass overseas and yes Americans are interested in a liberal world order. We don't always follow up because as you point out we are myopic as fuck. However we looked damn good overseas. Expanded NATO for the first time in decades. 800 million is a fucking rounding error. Start talking when we're capping 100 billion. That's at least real money worthy of discussion.

Nobody who wasn't screaming at the top of their lungs since Bush's second term about the costs of being overseas has any business bitching now. And lets be clear, I didn't really care until sometime in 2010 when two things became obvious. OBama was going to fail at ending the wars and needed to be reminded of that, and he wasn't going to address GITMO I don't know why he didn't just overide the governors. Fucking pussy.

By the time Trump came into office I just didn't care until the exact second Biden ended it. Good for him. But if he had done nothing I wouldn't really have cared. Just like I know its immoral but they can die in GITMO and we can let the historians shame us.

Though any military personel stationed there are living proof that the Constitution is a piece of paper, not something we care to enforce, uphold or defend. There is nobody in the military today who hasn't had a chance to get out since Gitmo was opened. Anybody who was in at the time it becamse our shame could have retired by now.

So he's actually improve our military standing, restored our respect environmetally, expanded NATO. If this is what getting taken to the cleaners looks like in your world I kinda want to know what dressing up to go out is? At least we know the last guy was an outhouse.

Lol.

Just...

Lol.

Well of course you laugh. Because you know its true and can't dispute any of it. Truth hurts.

That's just a conservatives as a whole. Even the thing with Macron and Biden boiled down to OPEC has a decades old agreement and its not a matter of if the Saudis WANT to produce more. They agreed to the rules.

Biden did look really really stupid on this trip abroad. I can't think of a single thing he did well...and when the U.S. is schooled by France about Oil Production...it's a really bad look.

DementiaJoe should just stick to the White House...ride out his term...until the Democrats find a way to suffocate him in his sleep so they can run someone else. How they're going to deal with Kamala though...that'll be interesting.
The French President made Biden look like a fool. Macron pointedly told Biden his plan to get the Arab nations to increase their oil production was going to fail because he was told they are already at peak production. So, why in the hell doesn't the State Department, the CIA, and Jake Sullivan the President's NSD, know about it? This is Hanna-Barbera level diplomacy.

So are you back to caring about what the French say? Have your freedom fries gone cold?

That's not what he said though.

I did, you didn't.

The UAE issued a statement Monday about its ability to produce more oil.

“In light of recent media reports, I would like to clarify that the UAE is producing near to our maximum production capacity based on its current OPEC+ production baseline (3,168 mbopd [thousand barrels of oil per day]) which UAE is committed by until the end of the agreement,” UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei told state news agency WAM on Monday, according to Newsweek.

The nations in OPEC have an agreement to keep production at certain levels. This isn't a matter of CAN'T its a matter of WON'T. Turns out that pissing off countries like say IRAN isn't very fucking bright.
