Progressives win, bigly

Really? Who's going to force all that equity and egalitarianism then???

Socialism definitively requires it.

You think millions will get up and voluntarily give away all their time/resources/energy to the greater good without a comrade standing over their shoulder with an AK?:D

LOL....this is why anarchist are a fucking joke and leftism is authoritarian in nature. You can't have socialism or communism without it.

You certainly can, at least in principle, so long as socialist measures are agreed to democratically. Let's not understand totalitarianism so broadly that any government backing is totalitarian or authoritarian. That would be an abuse of the intended sense of totalitarianism.

Big government

Funny thing is, the reddest states have the most federal employees, and received the most in federal funds yet pay the least in taxes. How quickly folks forget that it’s the bluest state’s taxes that support the reddest of states.

Authoritarian mob rule is still authoritarian.

It's happened before and it's why we temper our democracy so much especially when it comes to fucking with individual rights of the people.

At the end of the day socialism in all it's forms require a government authority to hold a gun to heads of the citizenry and forcibly take their money/property from them so that it can be re-distributed. It absolutely will not ever happen without that government authority there to force it.

Let's not understand totalitarianism so broadly that any government backing is totalitarian or authoritarian. That would be an abuse of the intended sense of totalitarianism.

Let's not conflate authoritarianism with totalitarianism......authoritarianism doesn't have to be autocratic, the US is arguably highly authoritarian. Follow the law or we'll blow your doors off at 2am, kill all your animals just to be assholes, beat your ass, take your kids away and even if we never charge you we can still take all your money/property just for the hell of it. We require a high level of obedience to the state and we have the greatest law enforcement and criminal justice empire ever built to enforce it.

Shit, you can prank call the cops and they will SWAT team whoever....getting folks killed, ruining lives.

Totalitarianism as far as I've ever seen it discussed/defined almost expressly implies an autocratic government, generally militaristic but occasionally "single party" joke that is totally subservient to said autocrat.

... neither communism nor socialism requires totalitarian force...

There's stupid and ignorant and, then, there's galactically stupid and ignorant.

If you have even the slightest knowledge of history and economics, you already know that the quotation above is the latter.

And if you had the slightest aptitude for reasoning, you could make the distinction from in principle to purported in history. But you don't, so you didn't.

Shhhhh, facts are bad.

I don't believe that. Are you saying there are more federal employees in WY than in CA or NY?

and the Reds have -> the worst opiod problem, shortest life expectancy, lowest education rates, lowest per capita income, least access to healthcare and now thanks to Trump work requirements on Medicaid recipients.

Soon they will have no abortions or gays.

I don't believe that either. I believe if you look more closely, you will see the bluest areas are the inner cities, such as L. A., Cook County, IL, The S. F. Bay Area, metro. NY and similar places. Such areas probably have worse drug problems, shorter life expectancy, greater infant mortality, more violent crime and lower per capita income, if welfare payments are not included. Since these are the paces where most major universities are located, the denizens probably have more education and they would also have more availability to health care.

This brings up something that has often puzzled me. At one time, "Red" was a synonym for Communist. "Pink" would have described Socialist or what is now sometimes referred to as "Progressive." That being the case, why are Republicans now designated as red, compared to the blue of Democrats?

The good news is, licker of boxes, you don't have to believe anything. The facts speak for themselves.

It must be so nice to not be beholden to critical thinking and comprehension.

Well, you would certainly know more about that than I do. Probably the bluest place in the country is Washington DC, I would bet they also have a higher percentage of federal employees than any state.
