A 14-year-old Texas teen is pregnant and chooses to bear her child...

...but her parents are intent on forcing her to abort the life within her and have allegedly assaulted their own daughter in the process.

A Texas court has extended a temporary restraining order against the parents at least until January 19, when the guardian ad litem/counselor/court advisor presents the court with what he deems is best for the mother.

It's quite possible with the input of this 4th party, the court can order - force - her to have her child's life extinguished...

...totally against the mother's will.

But she is considered a child in the eyes of the law
many states require the parents permission
in order to attain an abortion, and so, vise verse
the parents can also decide when to abort.

No. It just doesn't happen as much whether Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, whatever.

Parental control and respect are valued far more than in Occidental cultures.

The same holds true for education.

It's why Asian students do so well as compared to other demographics in North America and elsewhere.

IMO, a 14 year old doesn't have a clue of what life is all about. She's barely quit playing with dolls.

If she brings the baby to term, I fear her parents will bear the brunt of raising it.

It's a dilemma I would not want to face.

my data is only as recent as 2007.. but puts illigetimacy rates amongst asian societies at 11%... in addition, asian immigrants to europe or north america have a skyrocketing 30% illegitimacy rate

asian students do well , yes.. but only in sciences where memorization and repitition are key.... or have you never wondered why there isnt a strong cultural influence from asia... whilst european and north american culture have a huge impact on asia

Daughter is 16 and pregnant - and hellbent on keeping the baby.
She hasn't got a fucking clue... right now she's going apeshit about stretchmarks

No easy answers, a lot of questions.

Is she mentally and emotionally fit? Will anyone give her the support she needs at her maturity level to deal with the pregnancy and child-rearing? Will she accept it? Who has the right to advise or guide her?

You want to say she should be allowed to make the choice based on her available options and resources, but she's still a child. Can she even fully understand the consequences of her actions either way?

I did not say it does not exist, 11% is a low percentage compared to other ethnic groups.

Asians score better on the SAT's than non-Asians.

I do agree if not educated in a western secondary school environment they have trouble with creative thinking.

I have a friend who traveled with his wife
to China to adopt a little girl

His experience with Chinese schools was less

He's an American school teacher and he describes

You've identified two problems.

First, in a state with a one child policy and cultural preference for males there are a lot of girls either a) aborted or b) that become orphans. It's unheard of to adopt a male Chinese child.

Secondly, the orphan environment is not good from any perspective; especially education.

She's a lucky girl to have been adopted.

The process also takes longer than one would think.

Luckily they had the money for constant trips and long
hotel stays

In general, his biggest complaint about the school system
has already been addressed here..

He described what he saw as, lots of pressure on very young children
no fun, no recess, no creative thinking...

Although he did say, the Chinese seems to recognize
this fault and were trying to westernize their school to address it...

I blame it on the Chinese parents that expect this and put pressure on the school's administration.

We all tried.
She's adament that she and the boyfriend of 6 months are 'made for eachother' and will 'stay together forever'.
At the end of the day, it is her decision - I just wish she'd chosen a LOT more wisely
