She looked him in the eyes earnestly when he met her gaze. Ariel really liked him, so much it hurt, he was such a nice and yet complex guy, and it hurt her that eventually she would have to push him away. Maybe she could give him enough hints that he would run away, and she wouldn't have to have it end as badly as she thought it would have to.
He kissed her gently, and she returned it. Unthinking, she reached up and took out her contacts one by one. If this doesn't shock him, I would be very surprised she thought.
Without contacts, her eyes were a true gold, marbled with the spectrum from a deep dark amber to a true, almost metallic gold. Flecks formed her iris, and her pupils were shaped slightly different from normal human ones, narrowed a bit at the bottom and the top. Eyes glowing, she stared back at him, and she knew she looked feral, and a bit frightening to most humans.
