i had a grow house next door. in the next block, i have a heroin/meth dealer. you know who most often visits their houses? ups and fedex. and they aren't hispanic drivers.

I caved and watched his speech. Trump said meth. I had to laugh at that one. Meth just strikes me as an American-made drug. I mean, we probably couldn't give that crap away to other countries.

It takes a bit of time just to formulate an appropriately nuanced response to (for example) adrina's comments about a speech she didn't watch. She had quite a bit to say, and I wouldn't want to short-shift any of it.

I mean-

He read a teleprompter which proves he can read. Not sure how much he practiced before hand. His main theme was that the barrier was needed to prevent drugs and violence caused by the immigrants. He gave a couple of examples of illegal aliens harming US citizens.

It was hard to follow for me because he calls them al-iens instead of a-liens.

The phrase that will get the most play from others was, “This is a humanitarian crisis — a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” Trump said. He added that the federal government “remains shut down for one reason and one reason only: because Democrats will not fund border security.”

Of course, the fact that there is a messed up situation at the border states because of the way the administration is handling things was pointed out by many others.

The Dem leadership said that the money for humanitarian assistance was planned in the bills they were putting forth, but that the president refuses to separate the barrier from the other budgetary bills.

Late night shows questioned the actual heart and soul of the President.

It is they who are shutting the government down.

And why is he saying that? Those words translate into his entire speech of: The wall is too important to not sign a budget that gives us the funds. I'm doing this for the American People's safety. (Am I the only one who understands why people say what they do?)

Trump is no politician.


Pelosi and Schumer & real Politicians: Too savvy to say anything that they think will undermine their appeal to the American public.


I don't agree with how either side is handling the wall, but I disagree with Trump more on this.

If Trump is serious about this, then I'd like to see Trump bend right now and come up with a comprehensive plan for his wall from top to bottom. Engineering, exact projected cost: materials, labor, upkeep, man power, etc. I'd like the Dems to say that they will consider a comprehensive plan during next year's proposed budget (they wouldn't even if they said it, but say it,), and THEN Trump can not sign next year's budget and declare his national emergency if he needs to.

Edit: Give him just enough money to pay the people who figure out the details.

I want to know everything about this Wall before I decide if it's a good idea or not.

Low-energy coupled with the Adderall sniffles does not a good speech make.

Trump telegraphed his intentions earlier in the day at a luncheon with friendly TV producers. He said he didn't want to do a primetime address OR do a photo op at the wall, he was doing so at the insistence of his "advisors".

Interestingly, this combo (address/photo op) was suggested last Thursday night by fading television harpy Ann Coulter.
