Preferences versus feedback

A recent thread indicated that incest stories were slightly more popular than other categories, lesbian incest stories more so.

I tried my hand at a couple of incest stories, one including lesbianism (and gay and mature and voyeurism and domination, I got a bit carried away with that one ) and one which was more or less 'straight' incest (apart from the bit about jacking off on his brother> When I'd finished the story I found it was an unconscious literary device for a later scene.)

The first one had double the hits of any of my previous stories (mature serial) but less than a tenth of the mail responses. The second (still current I think to date) has equalled the previous hit rate but received zero mail response.

None of the 'Mature story' respondents have or were the only respondent to either of the incest stories.

The ratings for all the stories is more or less equal, above four below 4.5

The question is: Does this say anything about the readership/fetish quotient?

I'm not sure myself. My first two stories were multi-chapter incest stories. I received a tremendous number of emails as feedback. The chapters were getting posted each day which could have had and affect on it. My third story was in the erotic coupling section and did about the same score-wise, but only had a very small number of feedbacks.

The same three stories were posted at storiesonline and the same type of response occurred. I got the same scenario when I setup my website at asstr. So things seem to be consistent elsewhere.

The "erotic couplings" story I posted here is my lowest score; it is my highest at storiesonline. Go figure.

My incest stories have trigged the largest number of feedbacks, but I would consider them nowhere near my best work. Those that I do consider my best work have very little in the way of feedback and ratings.

My most popular story (in terms of views) is an anal story with the unfortunate title "Party Pooper" - go figure. It is currently my lowest rating story.

My first story has been consistently rated above 4.10 since it was posted two years ago, but it has taken that amount of time to garner pver one hundred votes and it still hasn't reached 10,000 views.

Then again, when I posted it I wasn't sure how to use the "keywords" properly so that may account for its lack of exposure.

The audience is very fickle.

Just my two cents worth, but I think incest as a topic has the greatest chance of interest simply because of all the persons you might get to fuck, a parent or sibling is likely always going to be the most unlikely, most taboo of any variable.

That might explain the interest, and it might be that it is also the least likely to get a response, due to it being also the most taboo subject (and thus the least potential some will talk about).

I can think of many females and many situations, but I do NOT expect to ever be shooting cum up my sister's cunt. And there is no chance in my mind's eye, that I will ever be screwing mom.
