This will be the last football thread I start for a while, honest!

As my nation votes today, in the European, Local and Mayoral elections, I'm in the mood to start a poll.

My poll is about the most important thing in the world, though (after sex, that is!): FOOTBALL!

Ok, so cast your vote.

Who do you think will win Euro 2004? I had to post two threads, becasue the max. for a poll is 10, and there are 16 teams in the championships.

Pssst, if you vote for England, I lose the T-shirt. :p

Lou :D

Hahaha! You two are terrible! :p :p

I'll get a message out to the lads that we are sending them positive vibes. I might not mention my T-shirt, though.

Um, where did I hear this before? LOL

FRANCE RULES!!!!

Greek players are not complaining that the official ball is too difficult to control. Sheesh! Well, Portugal will take care of that problem for them. They won't even get a chance to see the ball during next saturday's game, let alone control it...

I voted for England..Who Else? I bought myself a flag otday..expect a new AV sometime soon *grins*

Don't know anything about this and did not even read your post first, Loulou, but I voted for England cos I likes its lads (and I'm not even talkin bout the footballers). P. :p

Portuguese fans will start a riot for which English fans will be blamed, and England will be disqualified.

The Portuguese fans will start another riot when Portugal play Spain and Portugal will be disqualified.

Portugal will then arrest all the players of all the other teams on spurious charges of xenophobia.

FIFA will award the championship to Wales as a consolation for being eliminated in the qualifiers by a team including proven drug taking player(s).

It is beyond my comprehension that international football is played when it is well known that riots are likely to occur and that millions will have to be spent on keeping rampaging mobs apart.

If I announced an event (other than professional soccer) which the police think might cause a fracas, then it would be banned, so how do these over-paid primadonnas get away with publishing battle orders (sorry, that should read fixture lists)?

FIFA has nothing to do with these championships. :p

I may be mistaken, but I could doubt there will be any riot during the whole thing. It's too hot, everyone will be laying in the sun and drinking beer. ;)

Perhaps the Euro 2004 will be quieter hooligan-wise because, unlike the Euro 2000 championships, the fans who were mainly arrested for violence (Turkey) are not there. Only one England fan was convicted of hooliganism in 2000, and none in Japan 2002. I can't remember another English international marred by English hooliganism in the past few years.

I can recall Italian Serie A games being abandoned due to hooliganism, a Turkey Macedonia game being halted by hooliganism, regular arrests in the Netherlands and Germany, Lazio playing behind closed doors because of their neo-nazi element, etc.

But obviously, UEFA aren't interested in that. Six English guys get pissed and knock over some stools in a bar, and we'll get chucked out, though.

Any Lit members also work for UEFA and care to explain the logic?
