Predicament bondage using... elastic!

I've just posted this as a writing on my Fetlife profile. I thought it might be of some interest here...

I haven't seen much discussion of the role of elastic in predicament bondage. I think it has great potential to add another dimension to that type of play.

My understanding is that predicament bondage tends to focus on ropes and/or the force of gravity to create the dilemma – for example, a pyl has to to continue standing on tiptoes to reduce the tension on a vertical rope suspension to nipple clamps.

I'm considering an alternative, possibly horizontal scenario in which strong elastic rather than gravity provides the tension. For example, a magic wand is put into place over the pyl's crotch, with the pyl still able to move but only for a limited time against the restoring force of the elastic. The predicament could be for the pyl either to try to escape from or to move closer to the wand, depending on the flavour of the scene.

For me, the extra enjoyment from the elasticated setup is being able to see the pyl's desperate efforts reflected in the visible strain on the elastic and then, correspondingly, the pyl's eventual surrender to the inevitable when the tension in the elastic overcomes their resistance and forces them to be restored to their starting position.

To be effective, I imagine that the elastic would need to be powerful: maybe multiple parallel lengths of conventional dressmaker's elastic or, perhaps better, something like the resistance bands used for exercises in gyms.

I wonder whether anyone reading the above has either tried this or would like to try it. :D
.

I have used my exercise bands this way several times. Often it involves me trying to pull my legs together. I have different thicknesses of the bands too, so it allows for a lot of variation in the difficulty level.

Come to think of it, that's how my exercise bands have been used the most lately. Time to get back on the physiotherapy wagon.

My god, sometimes I wonder if the devil sits back and admires your work.

You can decide the details of the overall scene for yourselves. The specifics are to staple clothes pins to thick elastic bands and then staple the bands to a fixed anchor. Clip the pins to flesh and then bind hands where the subject cannot reach the pins and cannot reach the means of obtaining their freedom. So for the subject to be released requires that they have to walk away from the anchor, where the pull and nip applied by the pegs before they fly off is very unpredictable and the ouch factor for the subject very uncertain. If you are impatient make sure the subject has a pretty full bladder before they are clipped to the anchor to inject some urgency into the situation for them.

Thanks for confirming that it's not just me who has a fixation on elastic. ;)

I can imagine setting up my own gym specialising in this type of exercise. Mmm...

Oooh... they come with different levels of resistance -- like pyls, perhaps! :D

I'll regard that as well-earned praise! I try my best to be imaginative. Take the Magic Wand stool that I constructed a while ago, for example... :D

I read a story on this site a while ago, the title eludes me, in which the author described a positively torturous suspension set up involving lengths of rope attached to a few springs.
hint hint wink wink nudge nudge
Must find that story... must find that story...

That sounds like an intriguing project! I'm so glad to hear that others have already explored this area and established some best practice in this field. :D

Every days a school day! Love new ideas so yes I will be ordering from amazon if just a few moments. Thanks for everyone's input, especially the bladder incentive that's a great idea.

I've never experienced this... but it sounds exquisite!
I'm hoping that it can be, if I find the right materials, a configuration that works, and a pyl with the patience to let me set it up.

Like you, I've bookmarked the link from Raingirl85 to the TheraBand products, for further study and a possible order.

I'm so glad to have started the thread and to have received such positive contributions. Please keep 'em coming! (so to speak) :D

Theraband is exactly the stuff I use as well. I have a huge supply of different colors for PT, but they work very well for this too.

There are loops and straight bands, I've only used the regular bands. The loops might be easier to work with, less fiddling with knots.

It's a good idea to get them in various colors (ie. thicknesses). That way you can mix them for the resistance you want.

Will be waiting with caught breath to find the results of your investigations......
I bought some conventional dressmakers' elastic to test out, but I think it's far too easily stretched to be useful, even if doubled/tripled/multiplied up. It's also awkward to join up or form into loops -- at least, with my level of needlework skills.

I think the TheraBands will be a better way to go.

Thanks for those ideas. I've seen offers of mixed packs of TheraBands of different strengths, so I'll probably get one of those to try out.

Now I just need to dream up a suitable scenario and procure the necessary additional components/props. My imagination's on the blink at the moment, though, after a very busy week. Can anyone offer any fiendish suggestions to get me started?
