Yes, I'm interested in whether there was intent. And intent to do what? I just can't feel sympathy for someone who has no respect for the law, no respect for his marriage, no respect for his wife, no respect for himself, and no self control whatsoever.

Don't do illegal drugs and cheat on your wife then expect a pity party when something bad happens to you.

I know you're good at rocket-jumping to conclusions boyo, but you may have overlooked the "nonsexual" bit. The sex offender registries periodically are found to contain men whose huge sex crime was outdoor pissing. And yet, it seems that released actual sex offenders in every kind of program, with every kind of sentence, on the registries - re-offend.

I think the way that these crimes - ACTUAL child exploitation and abuse - are dealt with is only marginally more effective than the drug war. Or less. Jury's out.

My (crazy) ex was fired from a job at a juvenile delinquent boot camp type place with some pretty heavy insinuations of child abuse thrown around. Yeah, the guy was a whackjob in a lot of ways, but he was no child molester.

His offense? He peed in a restroom with boys, ages 13-17. In the toilet. And none of the stalls had any doors because, yes, this was a juvy facility. But, ZOMG, a penis was in the same room as the kids! Even though said kids couldn't see anything but his back.

He was devastated and terrified that he'd never get another job. He was already nuts, but he loved that job, and it sent him into a deep depression for YEARS. Not to mention the fact that they'd impugned his character over something stupid.

I really, really wanted to call them and ask why they didn't press charges, since they were so sure he was a child molester. I just wanted to hear them say they knew they had no evidence. But rather than just simply man up and fire him because, yes, he was ungodly annoying, they had to do something horrible like that.

I'm definitely not arguing that the guy in the article wasn't a total fucking moron. He was. But, on the other hand, I think there's a lot of bullshit that goes on in the name of "protecting the children," and the public is cool with it. Fucking take care of your own kids and stop expecting everyone else to do it for you. Or, even better, don't reproduce in the first place.
