Heard from Feisty


Austin's white blood count is still coming down & he is responding to meds. The other night I was misinformed about him having formula. When they told me that he was not going to be able to have Breast milk I assumed. I didn't realize that they would not feed him. What they told me last night when I asked after reading Weed's PM was that they let him suck, even though her milk had not come in, he was only getting small amounts of the thick yellow stuff that is there before milk. As she got sicker, they didn't want him doing the breast feeding until they knew what they were dealing with. She continued to pump, trying to get her milk to come in. the lactation nurse told her last night that she would get only small amounts because the baby was really the best at getting the milk to flow. Anyway, as I said last night, they decided to let him try 10 cc of what she had pumped, see how he did with that...I got to give that too him last night at 6 pm. He did well with it, so they have been giving him small amounts of what she has gotten so far thru out today. They said if he continues to do tis, they will back his IV off. He seems to be a bit more alert(moving around) but I still have not seen his eyes. I am going at 8 tonight to feed him the 10cc again. I can't wait! After reading everything I can find on the ASD, I am feeling much easier now. I also told the doc last night that mom & dad are very young and are not that good at relaying messages so with their permission, he said he would meet with us(the grandparents) after rounds each night so he could let us know Austin's progress that day. I can't wait to see him tonight, I just hope they has been as big of an improvement as I'm hoping for!

LOL Iam sorry Mindy hun I was tired and didnt think no that was Feistys words .. and mom had the appendix removed and I believe doing well .. all seems to be improving

Oh i see now.. so mom is ready for the road .
and Austin will just make such a fast recovery.
no one will believe it..

to his bed..
give ms Fiesty my love.. shes sounds more pulled together
than she has for awhile..
and she still has to get them married.. LOL
and find a suit for Austin..

isnt he tho! My eyes are just filled with tears that he finally opened his eyes and Deb was there to get it on a pic .. I mean think of it his very first time opening his eyes WOW

Miracles happen, even today. But we must not forget that he is not out of the woods yet. He and his family still need our thoughts and prayers. We pray for the continued improvement of Austin, and that the stress will be removed from the family.

I just found your thread and i will be saying prayers for the little guy and his family.....
Btw....I too was born with an Atrial Septal Defect and am curious as too what the Dr.s have mentioned so far....
Mine has been repaired ,Lived with it (normally) for 23 years before having any surgery.
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions...not a Dr. but i have been through it....
