Pray with warmlips

Absolutely, tigerjen. Stay strong and focused.

And do you know that THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND people die of starvation every single day?
Unbelievable, isn't it? And there IS enough food to feed them in the world, pray for that to happen, for every sentient being to be given enough sustenance to survive and therefore the possibility of transformation and happiness.

I know I'm going to biased here, but

my thoughts and prayers go out to the Jewish people
who are suffering in Israel......knowing how they are
and how they've been in the past, they will fight to keep
Israel theirs.........but an important difference between
the Jewish and Palestinians.........the Jews value LIFE.

tigerjen and MARTIN LUTHER KING JR

I can't say I understand the issues enough to comment much, but personally I do see all people as equal and all worthy of prayer. I mean, are you saying you would only pray for Jewish children, and not Palestinian children, for example, tigerjen? I don't think one can generalise about an entire nation, the Palestinian people are not monsters, no one is, there are just certain people who are brainwashed into thinking war is conducive to change by other misguided people.
I understand what you are saying, though, tigerjen, you feel very passionately about this, you have Jewish connections.

No one is right or wrong, we all need and deserve love and happiness

Read this:

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

excerpt from his nobel peace prize acceptance speech, 1964:

"I refuse to accept the idea that man is mere flotsam and jetsam in the river of life, unable to influence the unfolding events which surround him.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.
I refuse to accept the cynical notion that nation after nation must spiral down a militaristic stairway into the hell of nuclear annihilation.
I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.  That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.
I believe that even amid today's mortar bursts and whining bullets, there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.
I believe that wounded justice, lying prostrate on the blood-flowing streets of our nations, can be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men.
I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits.
I think Alfred Nobel would know what I mean when I say I accept this award in the spirit of a curator of some precious heirloom which he holds in trust for its true owners: all those to whom truth is beauty, and beauty, truth, and in whose eyes the beauty of genuine brotherhood and peace is more precious than silver or gold. Thank you."

I never heard/read that particular passage by Dr. King....
very powerful.....

I hear what you said above..........however, I might want
to add this in: it makes me angry to hear about young
people (late teens/early 20s) that are Palestinian blowing
themselves up and killing many others because "Allah
will offer them paradise in heaven"........it makes me more
mad when children of Palestinians are being taught the
same hate by their teachers and families, and to denounce
America and Israel.........children, no matter what background
they are from, are "uncarved and untouched blocks of
stone" (to quote my younger sister, who went on Semester
at Sea last spring)........and children are sponges......they
will learn anything that is taught to them........I just wish
that they are taught tolerance, peace, love, nonviolence......

I agree that we should try to include everyone in our
thoughts, but with being of Jewish background, its
sometimes hard for me to......I do think about the children,
more than one knows........I just get angry at those who
teach those children hate and violence :(

tigerjen

The challenge is that by getting angry, one feeds that hate and violence...
I hope you let go of that feeling one day, tigerjen, anger is a very powerful emotion, maybe it is good if we can be passionate about something, and transform that feeling into a power for helping others?

A prayer by Shantideva

May I be a protector to those without protection,
A leader for those who journey,
And a boat, a bridge, a passage
For those desiring the further shore.

May the pain of every living creature
Be completely cleared away.
May I be the doctor and the medicine
And may I be the nurse
For all sick beings in the world
Until everyone is healed.

Just like space
And the great elements such as earth,
May I always support the life
Of all the boundless creatures.

And until they pass away from pain
May I also be the source of life
For all the realms of varied beings
That reach unto the ends of space.

Quoted from The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche (1992)
Chapter 13 P.221

If everyone thinks peace, we will have peace.-Yoko Ono

Yes, I agree, thanks for that, eroticfiction.
What a beautiful connection there was between John and Yoko - it reminds me of my own marriage :)

Please translate your last 2 posts there, warmlips.....I never
took Italian in school..... ;)

Merci :D

tigerjen

Sorry, tigerjen

Those posts were kind of for ventoso, I don't know if they would make much sense to anyone else, even if I translated them for you! Just make sense in the context of what we have talked about ;)

I hope everyone is feeling groovy today!

One of the many poems my friend Mary has written, her and her son both had cancer but thankfully both got better, their strength and determination shines brightly,

Lord, help us to know
that we do not have to be brave
in order to be loved.

You only ask that
we bring our fear to you
and let you in
and ask you to help us.

First something serious english, so everybody understands:

HOPE
When You offer us hope,
Lord, please remind us of Your resurrection.
When You offer us hope,
Lord, please give us the courage to live.
When You offer us hope,
Lord, please let us remind us of the others.
When You offer us hope,
Lord, please let us rejoice together.
When You offer us hope,
Lord, please let us keep our faith.
Our hope can then be glory to the Lord.

Now a very nice one in Italian 'Preghiera alla donna' (Pray for the woman), specially for you:

You can translate it into english for all the women on the board!;)

Grazie!

Thank you ventoso, che dolce!
Provo di tradurlo...
I will have a go at translating it! It is very beautiful, where is it from, did you write it??

Re: Re: Anche...

I hope you all appreciate it!

You are a constellation of love
A miracle of all the miracles of the earth
You are a sounding echo of the earth
A tempest of all seas and passions
You are the scent of the flowers of the earth
The blue of the sky and the blue of the eyes of the earth
You are the fires of the universe
A light of the stars and of the moon at night
The most sweet salt of the earth
You are a scarlet sunset
You are the melodious sound of Spring
More luminous than all the splendid stars
You are my dream.
My prayer for an hour and for life
My angel amongst the years which go by
You are a (ricassa??) of the raging sea
A story tale from ancient times
You are my life and my love
In destiny you are a beautiful virgin
You were born for love
You are not waiting for happiness, you are calling it
You are the constellation of love

Very nice translation

Hey Warmlips, let's me congratulate you for the very nice translation. Good job!

Ricassa is a typing mistake, it should read: risacca (the movement and the noise of the sea against rocks)

Brava, mia bella traduttrice!
