Why not talk about British issues. You dont live in America, dont know shit about what goes on, and are seldom influenced by our policies.

Lets talk about British policies. Educate me.

WOW! MM I'm back to believing in you buddy! hehehe

I agree, but sadly I think that p_p_man and Todd are related in some sad way.

Everyone is influenced by America's decisions. Right, that's lesson 1.

Svedish_Chef "They cant win a test to save themselves... as for the ashes!"

I suppose our cricket can be likened to Liverpool FC. Always the promise but never the result!

lobito "I think that p_p_man and Todd are related in some sad way."

We belong to the same Commonwealth Club is all.

Honest...

What do you expect when Thomas the Tank is allowed to run amuck?

Ok now that was a cheap shot!

I resent the disparagement that Railtrack are recieving. What they do to create long thin wildlife sanctuaries and promote local shopping is second to none and worth all of the government handouts.

Do I mean that? Do I &^$%!

Personally I think they're wunnerful people...

Always making sure we have an exciting ride.

Is the train still on the track?

Is there still a track?

ppman

In my country are train system is fine, because we had the sense not to let it into the hands of idiots who like big bank accounts. So thats one part of Britain which has an adequate if not top of the line rail system. That is the Northern Ireland part of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland btw.

What's this?

The royal family on drugs?

Personally, if it were me, that's the only way I could bear it!

I like the British Trains....

you never have to be on time at the station because the train is bound to be at least 20min late due to staff shortage, fuel shortage, track shortage, or something that they say is "For Your Convinience".

You don't have Railtrack?

Lucky bastards.

Keep it that way...

:D

So there you have it Modest Mouse. We don't have a problem because our government fuck ups are a form of entertainment for us.

We are constantly effected by US economic, environmental and international policy, and so are rightly concerned with what the self appointed leader of the free world is up to. This week Washington and New York, next week London, Paris, Brussels and Berlin.

Back to Railtrack.

Once I was on a train that stopped, we got an announcement about subsidence on the line, and then we crawled along the track at no more than 10 mph whilst leaning at an angle of about 15 degrees!

Great stuff.

Britain's a great place, the trains don't work, the buses don't work, the post office doesn't work, the Royal Family is a laughing stock (our heir to the throne professed he wanted to be some rough old bird's tampon), our cows are mad and all sorts of other shit.

But

We can smile about it all and don't take ourselves too seriously.;)

No wonder Tony Blair's never hear

All with tongue firmly in cheek!

Ah but according to The Times today we're saved at the 11th hour!

"New plan to save the railways unveiled

BY PA NEWS

The Government’s rail strategy body today announced a major plan to drive forward £33.5 billion of public sector investment in the ailing rail network."

Pity they couldn't find the cash last year...

But what's funny about this, is that they've apparantly got a rail strategy body. Wonder where they've been keeping it?

In such a small place, where does a railroad actually go? Seems like you'd get up a head of steam (I know they're not steam engines anymore, I think...) before you had to turn around and go back... :p

Maybe our Amtrack people can help you out! Thier plan begins with, 1). A huge governmental subsidy... :D
