I had a story that was pulled down after someone filed a report about it. The report was pretty clearly fake, so I filed a request to have the story put back up, and it was. So far, so good.

But, once it was republished, it showed up in the New queue all over again.

If this happens for every story then it seems exploitable - someone could post an anonymous report about their own story and then republish it to get a new trip through the front page.

Is this what normally happens when a previously-published story is republished for whatever reason?

Interesting. I'd always thought stories went back up into their existing slot in the database. It sounds like Laurel started it all over again - something contaminating the old data, maybe?

That's what I assumed would happen too - the story would be readable again but with its original date of publication. Looking again, I see that the old date of publication was overwritten when it was republished.
