Hello. I joined today and see my responses to comments are moderated and unable to be shown to others. Does this always happen? Do I need to be here for a certain amount of time before it goes away?
Even this post in tech support is unable to be visible and awaiting approval!

Am I doing something wrong?

Many hours later my message above and my other messages have still not been approved

Do you mean here in the forums? I have never heard of forum posts being delayed. You just click 'Post reply' and it appears live.

Comments on stories are moderated. It takes about a day for a comment to appear on a story after it's posted. (Eventually, some people with enough comments or stories or something earn the right to post instantly.)

No they were here and in some of the Lit Personals area. Some different sections, I do not recall which. One or two were different games.

It is actually a very new thing from the administrators. Forum moderators are not approving/disapproving posts. We are aware it's happening but don't have any insight into it.

It was happening to me as well, but now it seems to be fixed after several days (thank you, to whoever fixed it).

Another Moderator told me the same thing, that Moderators are not involved in this, and that in fact the "Owners" are the ones doing it.

I guess that's fine, it's "Their" site. But might I suggest they change the notifications saying that messages are "being reviewed by MODERATORS" (my emphasis), to reduce confusion?

Also, I should note that while I was restricted from communicating publicly, I received several creepy PRIVATE messages from men who were hitting on me. That certainly added to my frustration and perhaps would feel the same way.

Also, if you are having this same problem, try sending a private message to @Manu in Tech Support. I tried that yesterday, and thankfully the issue was cleared up today.

Just a thought, perhaps the comment moderation is to address the problem of spam bots. If they can't post immediately, maybe they will go away. If I was a site administrator, and spam bots were infiltrating my site, that would be what I would do - easy peasy and effective

A always my opinion.

That makes sense.

Thanks for your comment!

@LaNegresse

This is why things have changed recently. We were being inundated with spam bots daily, almost 200 posts across all the forums. Thankfully, since they've implemented the "comment approval" it has stopped their shenanigans.

Hi, I'm facing this issue as well. Should I just wait for a moderator to approve? Or is there something i need to do?

What difference would it make? It isn't factually wrong to call the person moderating a "moderator," no matter which person it turns out to be.

You wait. Since you have only just started posting in the forums, there may be a delay until you demonstrate (by establishing a human pattern of posting) that you're not a spam bot.

One thing that is needed here on Lit is a degree of patience - the site is essentially run by two people, who process several hundred stories a week (the primary purpose of the site) as well as managing spam attacks and so on. There's often a delay while something gets processed in batches - it can be frustrating, but after a while you see the patterns and cycles, and get used to it.

Idk. I tried to maje a post but it wouldn’t fly. I’m not new here. But I have been away for a few years. I might have used a wrong word or two. Not sure. Obviously I can reply.

Yes, FFSeanR's screenshot above shows us what it looks like. I hadn't heard of this before this report. It's odd that you're affected too, as you have so many posts. It would make sense to apply it to just the first few from newcomers, to weed out the spambots.

The best girls are from my area? Really? They're disguised well. Oh, Lily Pad, yes, I remember her. I kissed her and she turned into a prince. Yuk.

Hint for future readers: the spambot's posting has probably been deleted when you read this. [Edit: it was deleted between reading and posting. Rest assured you didn't miss anything interesting.]
