As a relative newbie I am interested in finding out if we are able to post short stories any place within the boards.

Some of mine are short and not long enough to send to be posted with other stories

Try the Story discussion board. Probably be your best bet and get you the best answer. I don't see an issue with the size of a story, unless of course they have a word count limit.

The minimum length at Lit is only 750 words--a length that is generally not difficult with even a minimalist plot and characterization. Why not just expand your stories to this short-short length?

Damn 750 words. I just wrote an editoral to a newspaper and it was 610. Yeah 750 for a short story seems good, because that's about a page and a half on a normal sized text and font.

Is a normal sized font about 12, cos that's what I use... it's easy to read. But my mac and my pc seem to fight over the amt of words. They have two dif word counts for the same story. I'm trying to figure what makes the count smaller... hoo nose.

Some word counters ignore articles and acronyms of less than three characters.

Lit uses MS Word's standard of any character or group of characters separated by a space or line break is counted as a word.

Thanx Harold, you really relieved some of my stress. The triforce is with you! :rose:

The only stories on the Story Discussion board are those that have been put in the queue for discussion by the moderator, Pure. It's not a place to simply dump a story that's too short for publication to Lit. I would imagine that if that were done, it would be removed.

Literotica says has to be 750 words at least, however they do not say you cannot place 2 or more stories into the same submission. ;)

It's easy, if your stories are less or you want to submit less often, take your short stories, find the common theme, woman on top, blowjobs, whatever and put all the ones following that theme together and give it a fitting name, like Blowjob Central or something. The title has little to do with the story unless you want it to, though generally best to at least have it close to a central idea of said story. :catroar:

Very true. Og has a tradition of writing 15 50-word stories for contests, and submitting them together. They're worth a read, too - he's developed it into an art form. :)

so then I will assume I am unable to post anything I have written :(

I dont have the time or the patience to recount the words ..........sorry

Thanks for all the help :D

If they're less than 750 words, then it's probably not a "story" as much as it's just a vignette, or just a scene.

If you truly want to share them, then it ought to be worth the effort to expand them a little.

I can pound out 10,000 words in a day every once in awhile, and can't even get going really good on the beginning of a story with less than 750 words. I understand that I've probably been writing longer than you have, but if it's worth doing, isn't it worth doing right?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, IrishSpirit. Stories that are too short to submit are sometimes posted in the StoryFeedback Forum, but, frankly, Viginettes and flash-fiction stories don't fair well anyplace on Lit.

If you want to know what kind of feedback you would get on your story, PM me.

Changing a Title

This is a related question about posting in the Forums. I have seen titles changed to make a paranthetic note like Jism (Closed for Now).

How does one edit the title of a thread he started?
