When trying to post pics,Lit says my photos are too large. More than 100.0 KB's. Lit says they're between 119.0 and 122 KB's. How do I downsize them to fit ?? First time photo poster and somewhat technically challeneged..lol. Thanks for any help. Photos are in "My Pictures" section on my computer with I.E 8

You need to find a pic resize site.
Just type resize pic into Google :)

I like this one...
http://www.picresize.com/

Try irfanview, it is a free photo editor that works pretty well and is easy to use.

1 - resize
2 - lower DPI setting
3 - export the edited image. Exporting strips all the superfluous data off the image, leaving you a neat little file.

I just used Riot 0.5.2 to bring a 1.2m jpeg down to 387 kb. This is the discription of the program:
"Image optimizer to visually adjust compression parameters while keeping minimum filesize."

I've use this program to downsize dozens of jpg's. You can select the degree fidelity of the reduced file. I've noticed no loss of image quality down to 60% compression. The program will even batch process your files. It's freeware, no less.
You can select the degree of compression and note the resultant file size. Try a few setting and you can find the setting that produce the file size you want.
Just in case the link fails, I entered "compression" into the search box on Freeware Files, and found the program on pg.2. That's fail proof.
Hope that helps.
PS. NippleMuncher is right. Infranview is excellent. I use it for my default image editor. It will even run avi's, mov.,......wav's, MP3's I will do Screen Captures. Set your wallpaper. Everything! I expect the next version will be able to perk coffee and wash the dishes. Wait till you see the Color Correction feature. Did I mention it Crops pictures.
If you want it, go to
http://www.freewarefiles.com/ and type Infranview in the search box. It's freeware and small. Click on Download Now. If you go to the Infranview homepage for the download, you get a choice of Mac and Windows versions. AND a package of plugins! Download them too! It's an exe file. Just click on it and it will install itself in the correct folder.
Have fun!

4: Irfanview can convert nearly any image format to nearly any other image format -- that means you aren't limited to JPeG images to convert into Avatar or Profile Picture

Posting pics......

Just a note to thank those so ready to help with this problem. Fakesmiles first suggestion, using her recommended sight did get the pics downsized below the required 100.0 KB,no problem. Thanks !! But then....I couldnt figure out how to get them from there to post on the actual thread I wanted to post them on. I am a real techie greehorn about this stuff. I can barely get pics posted from 'My pictures" to my AOL e-mail,but I have figured that out, thank God...lol. So....if anyone has nothing better to do and would like to throw any help my way,I would certainly appreciate it. I do look forward to sharing my friends photos as well as she is.

If you use a picture hosting site such as photobucket (they won't host adult material) then you can post an image of any dimension and file size - the limit is only of the hosting site not Literotica. This also applies to hot-linking an existing image from the internet (Right-click / Copy image URL) - any size will work. You will need to use the Insert Image icon. Common sense will be your guideline as many here view Lit on mobile devices.

If you want to upload directly from your computer then you will need to use the paper-clip attachment icon. Literotica size limitations are implemented.

If taking photos on a smart phone make sure the photo ID is turned off - otherwise it is easy for someone to get the GPS coordinates from your photo and narrow your location of where you took the photo down to a metre.

If you are going to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket, create a username that is different to other social media sites that may identify you such as Facebook.

How about posting an avatar?
I've tried to figure this one out, but on my CP there is no place on the profile to add an avatar.
I added a link but I think it's just in my signature. The FAQ section is no help at all.
Anyone....?
