Have read a few stories here today
One in particular was well written and quite moving.
I wanted to leave positive feedback but cannot find how to do so.
What am I missing?

At the end of the story there's a tab titled "Add a Comment." Click on it, and then fill in the blanks.

On the last page of each story, at the end of the story, is a comments section. That's the best place.

Alternately, some people leave feedback for other authors here in the feedback forum, but there's no guarantee the author will find it here.

You may not be missing anything.

It's possible that particular author may have disabled feedback and ratings on his or her stories. Some folks do it because they honestly don't care what readers have to say, and others do it because they've received enough abuse in the past that they feel it's not worth it to open themselves up for feedback. Others deliberately turn off feedback because they post in lightning rod categories like "Loving Wives", where the emotions tend to run hot and abusive no matter what sort of story you write.

What's the story you read? A quick link and we'll be able to tell you if they've got comments enabled or not just by clicking to the last page. :)

An alternate way to send someone a message is to go to the author's main page and click on "contact" and compose and send the message. This message will go to them privately; no one else will see it.

Also, you can vote on the story ("rate this submission") and add as a "favorite story." You can even add a "favorite author." I'm sure most of us here are not into false modesty and will accept all four as indications of approval.
