Posting a picture in a thread

I have seen this done many times, and I know it can be done, so I wondered how to post a picture in a thread. I know how to attach an image to a post but I want to place text in the thread, then just below the text I want to be able to see 2 images (they are JPEGS). Was wondering if any of you geniuses out there could help.
