My forthcoming story, submitted 7/7 and still in Pending, is showing a date of 15/7.
What? That's tomorrow. What is that supposed to mean? Is it about to publish?

Interesting about edits to an existing story. Following a thread here I started about multi character conversations and a snippet I posted from one story there was good and valid critique that the way I had chosen to write the dialog was awkward at best. Standard dialog tags would have been better. As it was one of my more widely read and liked chapters I decided to submit an edit to resolve the dialog issue.

One thing I found is you can’t submit the same named story twice so in posting the edit I used a tiny variation to the title and made clear in comments it should update the original. The edit was drafted on 7th July but is still in pending. I can appreciate that reviewing new submissions over edits to existing is sensible but it seems too I may have to accept the edits will not be updated.

At least for later chapters I am ensuring I will not make the same mistake.

Brutal One.

To edit a story use the same title plus the word EDIT, submit the entire revised text, add a Note to Editor that it is an edit. Wait 5 - 8 days because edits are low priority.

The way you've done is likely to cock up that process, because you now have two story titles, not one clearly marked as an edit. If it's still Pending, I'd pull it back and start again - same title plus EDIT. Doing it that way ensures your metadata and comments remain.

I did try that but I could not submit it as it reported it was a duplicate title! It should be clear enough as the comments make clear it’s an edit to the original title. Unless I missed something it does not appear possible to submit a story with an identical published title which does make sense. Maybe there is an edit option for a submitted story I missed. EDIT - I will pull it and maybe try again.

EDIT 2 - same message ‘You already have a story named {story title}. Please choose another title

EDIT 3- aha! If all else fails read the instructions lol. I have used EDIT at the start of the resubmitted title - thanks for clarifying. Brutal One

Add the EDIT to the end of the title.

The Title of My Story - EDIT

Of course, having only 34 characters for a title could cock that all up, so, a nice note in the admin note textbox will work also. And as mentioned before it will take a bit longer to publish.
