I'm interested. What do you see as positive things about my country? What do we get right? What parts of it are beautiful? What do we contribute to the betterment of humanity, or of the planet generally?

Please just positive comments here. There's plenty of threads for bashing the US. Take the bashing there.

Our diversity. I love being in the midst of seeing and absorbing the energies and vibe of differences every day.

You eventually stopped invading Canada. Thanks for that.

And props for jazz music.

We allow shitty Canadian celebrities to continue breathing.

we have a rich and beautiful land. we are carefully, yet fragilely protected by a system which allows for the protection of basic human rights. there is an amazing abundance of free and creative thinking. there are layers of history beneath our feet.

I really believe that I can talk plainly in my own house without being listened to by "the man". I've been in other countries where private plain talk between two people only occurred when walking arm in arm down the street where it was assured that there were no listening devices.

Great answers so far. I know we're an easy target, and it's fun to bash us for all sorts of reasons, but keep it coming. What's admirable or likeable?

Most beautiful country on earth. Then you have fried green tomatoes and deep fried pickles.

cornbread, red beans, and rice. fried green tomatoes (light on the parmesan). A land of second chances.

That is truly an excellent answer. One of my favorite things about living in dc was the diversity of the area. Which also meant some great places to eat.

We're better than England.
