Too often I get sleepy after an orgasm. This is especially true if we make love in the evening. Sometimes, even if i'm well rested, I nod out for a minute or two.

Does anyone know why this happens?

I joked with a lover one time that this was something that evolved as a means to keep pregnancy rates down. If guys didn't go to sleep after the first orgasm, we would always wait for a few minutes and then go back to it again. This would increase the odds of a pregnancy. At times, this would be fine. But I think it would lead to a bit more friction between lovers than it would add fun at times.

Think of the scenario where the couple is content with thier schedule. Now, the guy stays awake and wants more loving. This upsets the schedule.

I'm being a little silly here, but there must be some biological reason for the PCN, post-coital nap.

Evolution only works when genes can be passed down to as many children as possible and keeping pregnancy rates down would defeat that process.
I know you're just joking, but sometimes i get really anal and feel the need to point these things out. I apologize. :)

Treeview's closer to the mark.

Expending time and resources on a second go that will be less likely to produce a child due to insufficient sperm count and inadequate seminal fluid is not a positive survival trait.

Individuals who are either incapable or uninterested in serial matings over a short time period are likelier to more efficiently spread their genes.

Right, so the evolving trait is having enough energy to have sex while your sperm count is at it's best for procreation, and NOT reduction of pregnancy rates.
