Post-Jovanovic Follies

There is something wrong with that story. :/ Running from some guy she met online for _three_ years? Unsucessfully? Never went to the authorities or got him shut down despite how taboo S&M is in the straight world. Hmmm....

He met his victims on the Internet — and while they may have agreed to S&M sessions, he used psychological pressure to convince them to stay after realizing things had gone too far, prosecutors said. Authorities acknowledged the two women he's charged with torturing were not physically held captive all the time they were with him.

Prosecutors in Brooklyn federal court, where Marcus is charged with federal civil-rights violations, described one gruesome session in the basement of the Valley Stream home — where he allegedly stuck hypodermic needles into the breasts of his screaming victim, attached a pin and padlock to her genitals and cut her with a knife.

He then allegedly posted pictures of the torture session on the Web.

The alleged victim met Marcus in a 'Net chat room in 1998, entering into a voluntary S&M relationship, and then spent the next three years trying to escape his clutches, authorities said. She reported him to the feds in January 2004.

There are some interesting things here in that it's acknowledged she was not physically held captive, but rather he used 'psychological pressure to convince them to stay.' What was it "Don't be a crybaby!"

RR, it's exceptionally interesting that ALL the usual charges do not appear, ie., assault, rape, torture, kidnapping, mayhem. He's charged with 'violating her civil rights.' I wonder if this has been done in spouse abuse cases. Haven't heard of it. Usually it's assault.

That famous English case ['spanner']that went to the the highest courts revolved around CBT which was held to be great enough bodily harm to establish assault (i.e., lack of consent).

It seems here that the prosecution is relying on the judge and jury being freaked out over the descriptions of needle poking, etc.

Next time I lose in a casino I'm going to sue them for my money back.

They tricked me, I thought I was going to win!
