That's what they're saying for the next week to ten days, maybe more.

Near zero or maybe below for lows, highs in the mid teens.

Fuck that shit.

Does it have anything to do with climate change?

Cause that shit is all hot air, yanno.

Blame Canada. It is always "cold weather pushing down from Canada"

I am moving to Costa Rica

NW PA here - last 3 winters - no worries.

4 or 5 years ago - the temp stayed below zero (0), for 9 straight days - I swore when that ended that I'd never complain about the heat again, and haven't.

Warm my Globe, please.....

Above 0°F right now, but will drop to or just below before dawn. RT weather in my 'hood.

All y'all don't know what cold is unless you've spent time in places where the ground is always hard frozen.

MEANWHILE: Just for some perspective:

The temperature in Boise today (Feb 2) was 58 degrees for the high.

The NORMAL daytime-high temperature in Boise for Feb 2 is 35 degrees.

The last week and a half we have had record highs for late January/February. Possibly the warmest air we've had for this time of year in over TEN years.

So, just some perspective here. Either it's global warming or it's a new ice age; depending on where you live.

We usually already would have had the coldest week of the year, so I can live with this. It's February already, just three and a half weeks until March. Then spring is just a few weeks away.

^^^ The weather turds have already moderated the temperatures a bit. When I posted they were calling for highs in the 20s, now they're thinking low 30s, which ain't all that bad.

But then they waffled and now think the coldest shit might not hit until the end of next week.

Some think that the earth is starting to enter another ice age

As most people know, the earth cycles into and out of "ice age" conditions. We have been emerging from the last ice age for 1000s of years. But now some think we might be heading toward another ice age. So it is possible that we could be in for some much colder winters. But of course climate change is always taking place on earth and always will. It heats up and cools down. We have to adapt with it or die from it.

Have been below freezing since the 10th and could be until Saturday, the 20th.

I keep think y'all should be blaming all those northern transplants who brought not only their politics but their weather with them when they moved out of New York to southern states.

Weather extremes are becoming more common, this time with the winter polar vortex now being pulled to much lower latitudes than normal.

These weather extremes, combined with political extremes, epidemiological events, and the unpreparedness of our governments at all levels, should be causing people to develop their own contingency plans. Do you have backup power? Do you have a food supply that can be stored without grid power? Do you have a backup plan for heating and cooling? Do you have a safe place to go under extreme wind conditions?

Oh yeah? Are some people saying that?

That's a cute theory.

Yes, there is plenty of speculation on that. Quite a number of 'science' sites. Now whether they're believable or not .....

"Snowfall accumulations on Wednesday appear to be on the order of 3 to 6 inches in these areas, while significant ice accumulations take shape from east Texas to the Mississippi Delta region. Ice accumulations ranging between a quarter to a half inch are possible which would make for hazardous travel conditions, induce more power outages, and cause additional tree damage in these areas. Eventually, this storm system will head for the Mid-Atlantic by Thursday where accumulating snow and ice will likely lead to more treacherous travel conditions."

Oh, so "a lot of people are saying that".

Well, that certainly settles that issue in the Orwellian era of Trump.
