PositiveThinker

Welcome to the AH PT.

I waited patiently, but once again everyone neglected to tell you of the tradition here in the AH of posting a picture of yourself with full frontal nudity. You seem like a nice person, so I am just telling you this so that peeps think well of you. No need to thank me, I'm just that kind of a caring person.

P.S. If you're a guy, nevermind. :D

:)I haven't figured out how to load a photo, yet. There must be something in my profile that allows me to do that.

Welcome to the AH!

(Now, if you haven't already done so, go back to your office computer, clear all your cookies, and erase your browsing history.)

;)

Hi, PT, and welcome to Literotica and the AH in particular. This is a nice place to hang out and ask advice on writing and discuss politics and post pics of grandchildren. :)

Hi and welcome, PT. :D

We're a friendly bunch of folks here in the AH, so feel free to ask questions, post comments and generally wander around.

Good luck with your first story. Post a link to it on one of the popular threads when the front office puts it up for viewing.

G'day. Welcome to the nuthouse.

I'm the most obvious token Aussie, not around much right now - summer school holidays and all that.

:)Thank you very much. It's my pleasure to meet someone from down under. I read and commented on one of your stories yesterday. You are a gifted writer.

HI PT,

I'm the token non-degreed ignorant and obnoxious old hippie bleeding heart liberal musician/satirist. If you have any questions about (good) music or songwriting, or if you'd like to get into an argument about music piracy, I'm your guy.

I don't know if I should even be out here being that this is the Author's Hangout and I've yet to submit a story.

I'm a long time reader who has never posted a comment. I've read stories on my computer at work and I feared that if I left a comment, they'd trace it back to my computer and fire me. Well...I received my first home computer as an early Xmas gift today and have been going a bit crazy leaving comments on all my favorite stories and favorite authors.

Writing this thread feels a bit like learning to iceskate or swim for the first time. I have butterflies. I'm so nervous.

Anyway, I'm hoping to post my first story soon and just wanted to introduce myself to everyone and say "Hi."

I'm PositiveThinker, but everyone calls me PT because I preach positive thinking to all my friends and relatives. I think after a while they wonder if I'm on Prozac because I'm always upbeat and in a good mood, but I'm not. I just believe in being positive instead of being negative. I tend to talk a lot, too, as you can see from this post. Sorry.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday.

A person after my own heart

Stay positive. And be sure to introduce yourself to English Lady, one of the most positive and  people here

:)As it so happens, I have a particular fondness for non-degreed, ignorant and obnoxious, old hippie bleeding heart liberal musicians/satirists as many of my friends are writers, muscians, and artists (lol). Thank you for making me feel welcomed.

:)Ah, so you're the other positive think (lol). Actually, there are a lot of us, only many keep it to themselves. I'm hoping my positivity rubs off on others. I've yet to introduce myself to the English Lady. I think I read somewhere that she and/or her husband was having health issues. Thank you for your kind words and happy holidays.

You need to post more if you're ever going to be able to have an avatar. The Word Chain thread is a very good one to build up numbers fast.

:)Yes, thank you, I know, but I've been busy trying to write my first story (lol). It's difficult to do both. Maybe, I'll have more time over the holiday weekend. Thank you. Happy holidays.

PT - If you are indeed tackling your first story, check out the various How To articles on writing, (in the 'How To' story category) as well as the info on the Writer's Resources page.

The other thing to be aware of is the formatting. Here at LIT, they want to see a space between each paragraph, unlike printed fiction, where there is no space.

and by all means get some one of us to edit it for you. It helps a lot to have your work seen through other eyes. Saves hassle from the readers. too.

Welcome to the AH, PT. Seems you're making your way around pretty good so far. I think it was glynndah who said to pop into the word chains thread. She's right, it'll help build up your post count quickly and there's not much typing involved....there is a bit of thinking involved, however, when someone posts a difficult word to build from, but it's always fun and helps build your vocabulary, too.

And as VM said, once you've finished your first story, give a shout out either here or the Editor's Forum for some help with editing.

Since no one else asked, and I'm just a nosy person, what's your first story about?

:)Basically between Christmas, work, and the kids home for Christmas vacation, trying to maintain enough focus to keep a thought in my head long enough write is taking a backseat, unfortunately (lol). I don't think I'll be finishing this story until after January. Thanks for the helpful pointers.

:)Fortunately, I'm surrounded by English majors (lol) who love to correct the work of others. Thank you for the helpful suggestion, though.

:)That's the thing, I have a dozen unfinished stories and continually go from one to another. It never seems finished, so I leave it for weeks or months at a time to work on something else, until I tire of writing that story and abandon it for another (lol). Writing is a lot harder that it looks. You guys make it look easy. I'll take a peek at that word chains thread. Thanks.

Please don't post in italics all the time. It's really, really hard on the eyes.

I promise, you don't have to post in weird fonts or sizes to get noticed.
