If you wrote a story where a character used mind control to force someone to make better choices, how would you also make it sexy?

In most mind control stories I've read, the power is used to force someone into making objectively poor choices. Positive use of mind control seems like a fun subversion of the tropes.

Better choices? By who's opinion? That's the problem I have here. It's too subjective and what are the unforeseen consequences? Okay, maybe she didn't go out again with the dirtbag who's been mistreating her, and she goes out with the clean-cut nice guy but something bad happens? Whose fault is that?

The person wielding the power, of course.

In real life, you would be taking away someone's consent. But if we are writing a story containing actual mind control, we are already in fantasy territory.

Gratitude... the subject KNOWS they make poor choices. And there's this whole mental back and forth over how much the appreciate or resent the push in the right direction.

Basically any imaginable style of mind control  can be used in the same way as psychotherapy. Hypnotherapy is more effective on this site than in real life, but it really does have some uses. Same for mood-altering drugs.

You could get really trippy and creative with the mindscape and telepathy and implanted dreams and alternate personalities talking to each other and stuff, and many writers have. You could also just have someone with a magically compelling voice say, "You no longer want to smoke cigarettes, they're disgusting," and have it work easily, and have them follow up with, "Sucking my cock is awesome," and have that work just as easily.

Maybe the one issue your hypnosis cant seem to cure is their sex addiction. It just keeps manifesting in new ways, like bugs bunny with his finger in the leaky dam.

I'm not well-read in the Mind Control category, so take this with a grain of salt.
I see MC stories as a subversion of consent, so if you want to subvert that, consider subverting some other basic elements.

• Most MC stories I've seen, the Subject is either unaware they're being controlled or consent to specific controls (e.g., hypnosis to cure smoking). So, setup a story where the Subject is fully aware of the controls in place and consents to the process.
• The Controller is usually acting in their own self interests, so flip that - they're entirely focused on their Subject's interests and setup hard rules to prevent themselves from taking advantage. (e.g., "I'll use my MC device to alter your behavior, but not how you react to me.") Or, their concern makes them reluctant to push too hard or too quickly, allowing situations to spiral out of control.

I could see a story in which a scientists is trying to help a friend with a history of making bad choices in their dating life. So, together they set out to 'rewire' her sexual attraction from classic red flag behaviors to more green flag behaviors. The he follows his patient into the world to see how she does, adjust the programming, etc. Things work too well, and it could be a 'romance' where she falls hard for her scientist friend.

Or something more 'erotic couplings/group sex' where she goes wild for people just being selfless and kind, and the friend is just trying to rein her in without compromising her free will more than he has.

There's also options to explore with the 'unintended consequences' angle. Maybe things are working, but it turns the subject into an exhibitionist. Or they shift from submissive to dominant. Or it shifts their gender preference or identity in some way. The key being, the Controller is not in total control and their desire to 'do no harm' allows sexy high-jinks to ensue.

For not being well-read in the category, that was very insightful. I've seen a few of the specific ideas done before (particularly the "slippery slope" stories), but this sentence really hit home:

This makes room for a slower burn as well. The harem and escalation elements of MC stories often gets out of control fast
